brother hl5370dw question
I have a dell inspirion laptop and I am trying to print to my brother printer and it is only printing from one drawer and i went to properties and accessories and I have draw 1 for letter and drawer 2 for legal. i talked to brother support and they told me that the printer drivers are not set up to be able to print a document that has mixed sizes within the same document. That sounds nuts to me because what is the purpose for a dual tray printer then. I told him I have a Hp laptop and it works fine. It does print letter and legal both. When I print chose paper source by pdf file.
He told me that I would need to call someone at adobe to see what the problem is. Or do I need to call Dell? Anyone with any suggestions.
Like I said I print from my hp laptop fine. But I want to get my dell laptop set up.

I have a laser HP printer 2 drawer. I don't know if this will help: My HP has a slot for printing envelopes and it is called drawer 1 even though it is not really a drawer. So when I set up the printer it would only print letter size and not legal because I needed to set the settings for drawer2 and 3. Drawer 2 being letter and drawer 3 legal. Then it worked fine. I had to get on tech support several times before they figured it out. Check the settings on yours and see if this is also the case. Any 2 drawer printer should be able to choose the paper size. Also make sure the box is checked "choose paper size by pdf file" when you get the grey printer window that says the number of pages etc. Let me know if this helps.

Don't use Adobe Reader X. Try it with a previous version and see if it works.

In properties, after you set up the second tray, I believe there is a button to click on that says "apply". Double check.

It could be your operating system. I have my printer networked and added a new computer. It has Windows 7 and my older computer has Vista. Windows 7 did not have the required printer driver so I had to search for it when setting it up. I chose the wrong driver and could not get it to work properly. My model is 5250 DNT. The driver for this chosen by Windows as 5250 DN, there is not separate driver labeled DNT. I found out through trial and error that the driver I needed was 5250 DN series. See if there is a driver for your model which ends in the word "series". Once installed you need to go into properties and define and activate your trays, which is pretty much self explanatory. Use the orange button here for defining trays, there are a couple of good posts showing the procedure.

Thanks everyone for your help. I downloaded foxit reader and quit using adobe x and it seems to be printing fine on my dell computer now. I know this printer could select the paper size because I didn't have any trouble on my HP laptop.
