Check is in the mail!

The PO delivered 4 checks to me recently written in March 2011, none were able to be cashed and I'm now trying to get them replaced by the companies because they even refused to re-issue after being notified I hadn't received the payments, stating the check was mailed. Surprise, the checks were in the mail the PO just delivered them extremely late.

What's the date stamped on the envelope by the P.O.

Those go out first class - and they're not supposed to be held. Are you saying 4 checks from the same company or 4 checks, all from different companies? If all the same company, I say "hooie"...if different companies I'd be having a chat with my postmaster...

Re: Are you saying your bank won't honor those checks?

They are over 180 days old, void after that.

Don't go with a live person teller, go ahead and deposit them with the atm machine.

On the front of the check it says "Void after 180 days" bank won't take them, they have to be replaced.

Curious DTF

Were the dates from the USPS or from one of those Pitney-Bowes machines?
I used to work with someone who would use one of those P-B machines to put a different date on envelopes, when she wanted to let the receiver believe she had mailed them earlier.

Re: Curious DTF

Cancelled stamp from PO, actual stamp not a meter scan.

All different companies. Point is the check was in the mail.

This isn't the first time either. The funny part is that they also delivered the sales flyers from that time frame too, as if the coupons were still good.

I would certainly get a hold of the Postmaster General for your area - make sure you make copies of everything because he will want to see them.

I agree & would go to the PO & file a complaint. Did you

know that the PO is actually doing away with 1st class mail? They're thinking is that they won't deliver mail in a couple of days for 44 cents when UPS & Fedex get paid much more for fast delivery. Bizarre thinking, right? I'm guessing that's why many companies are offering ACH payments now.
