Re: Click the orange search button...in the search
After clicking on the orange Search tab, look in the bottom half of the screen. You can add the company name in the Topics field and/or Key Phrases field. Also, you can go to the top of the screen here and click on Signing Central and then on Signing Service Listings and you'll see an alphabetical listing. If lsted there, there will be comments from other notaries. That is the best source of info available to us, of which I know, and one of the main reasons some of us are members.

I just went to their website to do a search of notaries
in my area. I have signed up with them. I am not able to view anyone's profile. Can someone go to their site and see if they can? Thanks

Trish, I did that but it won't let me "view" any profiles.
Are you able to click on a name and read the profile???

Re: Trish, I did that but it won't let me "view" any profiles.
I just tried it and I can't view individual profiles either. Either it is a system glitch or they have restricted viewing to the comapnies that subscribe to the database. I just find that strange. Im going to send them an email and ask about it.

I think this is one of those companies which has phished notary names/contact info. They list my husband, who is a notary but doesn't offer his services. They may be looking for people to pay to be "officially" in their directory.

Sorry hit wrong key, here is what's going on, this used to
be KC Signing, who moved all of his database to start new company Direct Closers which is nothing more than a database.
From the email sent to me: "The Direct Closers database and platform introduces a generational change in the way title insurance companies and mobile closers like yourself come together and work together. There will be no more signing service companies, no more notary middlemen, no more waiting weeks to get paid, no more headaches navigating various websites to perform and manage your closings – instead Direct Closers is a platform that streamlines the whole process from order generation to completion.
I also want to strongly encourage you to order the loan signing class and take the certification exam, even if you already have been through the NNA loan signing class or any other formal training. I understand you may have been a mobile closer for years but think of this as a refresher. I guarantee this is the most comprehensive training ever made available to you…look at it as an industry seminar. You will learn a lot regardless of your experience. More importantly, the fact that you have passed this rigorous certification exam is a powerful statement to your hireability. Your listing in the database will stand out against the others and the title companies will naturally call you before an uncertified notary. Also, once certified the title companies will be able to add you to their “Personal List” of mobile closers. The title companies will visit this personal list first before resorting to the broader database. They don’t want to hire “just a notary”, and they want to feel confident you know what you are doing."
Basically, you must pay them to give you a premier listing, then you pay them a fee to take a class and get certified by them in order to move you further up the list for selection.
In summary, this is a pay, pay, and pay more scheme, without any guarantee of ever receiving a call. But, you can get a free listing and profile on their website. The creative ways of picking your pocket just never end.

@desktopfull – Why are you so hard on this Direct Closers company? I am speaking from my experience, as I have written about in a previous post on another thread. Their order management platform which is online (a lot more than a database) felt similar to Notary Café’s but I like it better. It is smoother and there seems to be a lot of features on it that I like. For example, My favorite part is on one of the closings I did the docs were uploaded separately and when I got the email for the first upload I went to the website and the color of the order hadn’t changed telling me the file wasn’t ready and there were more docs coming. Sure enough a final HUD came about 45 minutes before the closing time and then the color of my order on my screen changed to green (“ready to go”). I didn’t have to guess if all the docs were in, the title company clicks a button when the final doc is uploaded and the file is ready.
I am surprised there is criticism about how much they charge for their training and certification. I did the training and thought $45 for training and a tough certification exam seems more than reasonable. It looks like it cost a lot to make all this. The training was hands down awesome. It was 8 hours of videos with real people, screenshots, going through every document ever invented and what it is for and how to summarize it or answer any questions related to it. It even gets into how to grow your business, including – no kidding – how to install a printer in your car and the extra battery you need to install in the trunk. All this and an extremely tough certification exam (took me two tried to pass it) which I know sets apart the real good closers from the side job notaries.
Knowing that the NNA charges $175 for “training” and a certification that doesn’t even compare to the Direct Closer video training I think the cost that is about a quarter as much as the NNA was fair. Plus, everybody has the NNA certification; it really doesn’t tell anybody that I really know what I am doing, what the most complex docs mean, how to handle tough questions, etc.
I didn’t choose to pay the $9.99 for an upgraded listing because I am not in an area that has a lot of notaries, but if it was any cheaper than $9.99 everybody in the database would buy it and then it would mean nothing. I don’t see how it could be any cheaper and still be effective.
