How many people have received the below?

From: ****** ********

Re: Notary Fees

Dear Signing Agent,

I want to thank you for your continued support in assuring the success of ********. We value your services and appreciate the partnership developed throughout the years. Unfortunately, with the economic turmoil faced by all, we have been forced to cut our costs to our clients in order to remain competitive.

Although the majority of us felt the crunch back in 2007-08, we continued to pay our notaries premium amounts to conduct each of our closings. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to do so and have been forced to implement a pay cap for services rendered for all local closings within your area. Effective April 15th, 2012- Fee Table:

Notary States:

Single Set of Loan Documents (Over Night): $50.00

Single Set of Loan Documents (Email): $70.00

Additional Sets Signing Simultaneously: $30 + Print Fee (If Applicable) $20 = $50.00

Trip Fee/No-Sign: $30 + Print Fee (If Applicable) $20 = $50.00

Print Fee Only (No Trip Made): $20.00

We understand this may cause some hardship, and for that… we truly do apologize. We are hopeful that you will take into consideration the many years of service, our consistent pay schedule, and a staff willing to go above and beyond to protect your best interests and will choose to remain a part of our network.

Please send an email to:********@******** advising whether you have elected to accept or decline. If you choose to decline, please let us know what your fee would be and we will update your records to reflect the most current information. Those of you that choose to accept our fees will be listed as a preferred notary within our network for your area.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate in contacting either me or one of our scheduling team members.

Notary Direct. Cheryl just called and told me I need to out them...lol...I didn't even realize these posts were made.

As GG mentioned, I too, think it was posted a while back.

They are a 3 star company in SC. Most of that is because of their low fees. They've always had low fees, it's just that now they're pathetically low.

Awesome post Les! Hit the nail right on the head!

To interpolate:
“Preferred notary” translated means:…… Sucker
“Unfortunately, with the economic turmoil faced by all, we have been forced to cut our costs to our clients in order to remain competitive” translated means:………. Be advised that our client, the title company, or their client the lender, have NOT lowered the costs to their client the borrower, they in fact are charging more now than ever. They however are totally insatiable, and greedy beyond the dreams of Avarice, while also being very poor at marketing, so they now choose to keep as much as “your fee” charged to the borrower, for themselves as possible.
“we truly do apologize” translated means:….. NOT!
“We are hopeful that you will take into consideration the many years of service, our consistent pay schedule, and a staff willing to go above and beyond to protect your best interests and will choose to remain a part of our network.” translated means:………. We didn’t cheat you in the past, but we need more money now, and are afraid to ask our only customer for more, so it looks like you guys will just have to suck it up and PAY if we are to stay in business.
“Those of you that choose to accept our fees will be listed as a preferred notary within our network for your area.” translated means:…….. Number “one” sucker!
“Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate in contacting either me or one of our scheduling team members.” Translated means….Not any serious questions please! Like why we don’t modify our contracted price with our client so as to be able to pay a fare fee to you our ‘silent’ partners, and still be able to cover our costs and make enough profit to stay in business”
And no we don’t think we are “stupid”….but we are counting on you being just that, and swallowing this BS we just sent out.

Are they nuts?

However, I'm sure they will have no problem getting suckers to work for their fees. I would be tempted to write back something along the lines of: I'm so sorry you are so bad at business that you have to gut the loan-signing profession by caving in to "competition" and suggest to them they need to market and fine better clientele (just like we do!). You could also do a internet search and forward on to them reports that TCs and lenders have been steadily increasing their fees since the Ice Age. They don't know the meaning of cutbacks (unless it's notary fees and no thanks). And as fas as I can tell, there is no more "economic turmoil." The refinance business is red hot; this one major lender just sent the entire office to Vegas for a "job well done, we made a zillion dollars" trip. So it's too bad this SS missed the boat. And depending where you are, foreclosure sales are also booming.

BTW: I think this exact letter was posted here some time ago .....

Re: Are they nuts?

Don't assume all these SS's are "really"receiving less from their clients. Why not take advantage of all the individuals willing to work for peanuts! Of course they forget the saying that: "If they pay peanuts; sooner or later they will get monkeys." That's our only "saving grace."

What I want to know is why in the world would anyone want to be put on their "preferred notary" list so that they can fill up their calendar with assignments that don't make them any money, therefore not being available for those offered by someone willing to pay a reasonable fee.

It boggles the mind...

Janet what boggles MY mind is why

signing services that pay $90 are listed as 4-5 star companies. I received a call 2 days ago from a highly rated ss out of FL. and she wanted to pay $95. This individual sometimes gets $175 on the HUD.. I know one ss that makes $195 from a liberal paying title company. Most of these ss are possibly getting $150+ and they make anywhere from $50,60,75 on the closings. Agents keep closing for these highly rated we love, love, love this person/signing service and posting stellar reviews. Where does it stop?

BTW, I don't know why this ss called my back since

I have closed for her in the past for my fee, not her low fee and she warned me that I had deep pockets and would only be used if she could get more money from the lender. I would say that her statement was like the kettle calling the pot black. She gets high dollar but does not want to pass the profit down.

Don't hold your breath...

Names and contact information of good companies are the lifeblood of a successful NSA. This is the sort of thing that most businesses consider proprietary business info. And except for the big guys, none of them want to be bombarded with applications from people at all different levels of experience and expertise. Just make sure you can be found - and that you've honestly presented yourself in the best way possible - when one of them needs someone in your area. That doesn't mean you can't use whatever other means you can find to try to identify them on your own.

Sometimes no news is good news... but you should use good judgment, regardless.

First of all, name the company. What's the problem? What's all this **** business? Big Secret! Wow.......

In a way, however, it's nice that there are companies out there that will be hiring only incompetents and ding-dongs who accept stupidly low rates to perform loan signings, thus, not bothering those of us who actually know what we're doing. As previously mentioned, send them a nice letter, rejecting their offer, if you have the time.

I try to work for as few "signing services" as possible, however, I do have a couple that pay proper fees and pay on time and I've been with them for years. I attempt to keep the same clientele year after year by providing excellent service and I rarely take on any new companies just because I just don't want the grief.

You probably didn't mean it literally, but to belabor the point, no one can "force" that upon anyone without their consent. Thankfully, as independent contractors, we can always say "NO". (Or "HELL NO!", as Cheryl E. suggested... Wink)

Happily, they haven't bothered calling me in a very long time. I guess there must be several folks in my area accepting those fees. Very sad!

I haven't but I wonder if

it is the same company that "reached out" as noted in Message 418013. I mustn't do work for this company or the other because I didn't get either "drink the Koolaid" memo. But I still can't believe these people are living in Oz thinking we are living in a better economy than they are and their sense of entitlement is such that it "our" job to sustain them. WTF. Send the email back change the figures and the wording directed towards them or be totally mature (no fun at all) and throw it in the trash.

Have a great day all.

And then the one I had canceled. No heartburn on my end.
