Mortgagedocs.com payment issues
I did a job for them in early March 2012. I have not been paid as of yet. I have left 5 messages on the telephone and 5 emails over the past 60 days to get paid for this job. No response as of yet. Anyone know a secret phone number or email address to use (I know then it wouldn't be secret). I have been sending my requests to [e-mail address]
Then they ask if I can do more work and I am like nope I don't work for free. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

I would suggest that in future you don’t work for people whose business plan is to mostly cheat notaries, pay virtually nothing, could care less about you or your expertise will use whoever is cheapest and answers first.(first come first serve) I’d chalk up the $40 you lost to experience, and from now on work ONLY for those here that have 4 stars and above. Anything else is foolish.JMO

Well if I worked for $40 I would. Unfortunately I don't leave my door for less that $xxx. Up here in Montana we are very lucky to get what we ask for.

I forgot to add that Mortgagedocs.com has 3 1/2 stars...or at least they did at the time. How they can keep that rating is beyond me.

Easy, Les.....don't blow a gasket.
#1 She didn't say it was $40....although it could have been
#2 I have done signings for them at $XXX (but not many)...not the barely $XX that they offer
#3 They have a website that you have to go into to and enter the fact that the signing is done . It appears that if you don't entered it closed on the internet..you may not get paid.
Having said all of the above...
I don't condone non-returned phone calls or unanswered billing e-mails...an indication others
may be having problems getting paid.
And your suggestion is probably right on....once (and if) you get paid scratch 'em off
your list..and sign up with someone who pays more attention to notary issues.
For my part...I seem to be getting paid on time by entering the closing info on their website.

I’d say one must “read between the lines” when it comes to comments on SC. The original poster asked for opinions…that’s what I offered. I have never worked for this company. When I get an email request for a signing in my area for $40 I delete it. I would do the same if they offered more $50…$80…$100. I set my fees not them. My fees differ upon circumstance; I’m in the service business, not the wholesale business. My opinion remains the same…you do what you want.

I just got paid for one that I did in February. I contacted the person that scheduled it with me and she forwarded the information. I got the check two weeks later....I won't work for them again. They met my fee reluctantly and I had to wait quite awhile to get paid. Sorry.....for a cash deal, that is ridiculous.

LOL...as I was reading I was thinking, oh yes you DO work
for free...lol And in the not so distant future your costs will actually have you LOSING money. In other words, you may as well PAY them...lol
Sorry, I am not being flip about your issues with payment!! I really feel for you. It s*c*s to be owed payment. But I think with their disgraceful fee structure, they also (I think) disclose that it could take up to 90 days. Am I right about that?
Well, good luck. Don't let em off easy.

Re: LOL...as I was reading I was thinking, oh yes you DO work
They will meet your fee if they are desperate. They paid me $XXX for a recent closing.....cash deal because they were desperate. However, 45 days to get paid on a cash deal is ridiculous...my one and only with them and I guess I can consider myself lucky I got paid.

Janel, you are the only notary within a 50 mile radius
actually 49.7, I think, but only 1 other.
Within 60 miles there is only 7 others. There are 34 other notaries in a 30 mile radius of me...hmmm
So I hope you're charging $200+. Afterall, they seem to be pretty desperate according to NotRot's ratio.

Re: Janel, you are the only notary within a 50 mile radius
I know it seems that way here on NotRot....but they manage to find people at real estate offices, insurance offices, Fed Ex Kinkos, UPS Stores, and title companies that are not listed here to do closings as well as bank staff. For all the ones that I turn down....they find someone to fill it. That means someone is taking their low ball offers. I know that some of them think because they don't have to drive and the borrowers bring the paperwork that $40 ro $50 is good money. Nations Direct, Global Notary, MortgageDocs, and others are notorious in this area....they must find someone to do it. I can't. In the long run these people will figure out that it is costing them more than they are making....If these companies don't meet my fee, I don't do it. They also do an extreme amount of babysitting and I have been out of diapers for quite some time now......

3 Wells Fargo brokers use me
Seems work is through RELS and Mortgage Docs, first they wanted to lowball me off the rate given to brokers then sign contract. They agreed to broker fee's sent W9 without contract, took 3 months to get paid.
They must burn every notary they can.

Heh... I just got an email from them offering $65.00 for a refi tonight... and was told it was "higher than the usual due to the remote location."
I let them know I charge at least double that... I doubt I'll hear back. LOL

Doesn't that make you feel so special?

LOL!! I know, right?
Rather than all that, following that email, I just made 2 GNW appts to make $65 in about the next 40 minutes... no printing, no fuss, all right here in town. I'm on my way out the door.
I'm really tired of the signing companies... I'm doing fewer and fewer loan signing these days, and it doesn't bother me a bit. If some other notary from 30+ miles away wants to drive in to town for $65, they are welcome to do it.

They text me for signings.
The last one I got from them said "R u avail to do signing?". I haven't done a signing in a while. I'd rather stick to the GNW. Appointments are in and out, cash in hand (occasionally a credit card here or there). When I'm asked if I know anyone here in town, I say no...but I know someone about 49 miles away.

My suggestion is avoid Mortgagedocs totally. I have refused all signings for them for the last 3 years. Low pay and slow. Then, got named in a lawsuit for a signing I did for them. When I called them about it just said "yeah, that lender was shady, better call your errors and omissions insurance for lawyer". So, they knew the lender was shady but assigned me a signing with them? When my lawyer called them would not give him any information. I was, eventually, dropped from the lawsuit after almost a year but no thanks to mortgagedocs. I say do not do any signings for them

I did one for them on 4/10/13, was told last month that check would be sent first of this month. Sometimes I accept calls when I'm on the road and forget who not to deal with. They did agree to my $xxx.00 fee, but I guess that only matters if I can get paid.
