National Paralegal Network
I got an email that they want to offer me a position. Has anyone completed their training? Are you hired as an employee or as an independent contractor?
Thanks,
L

After reading a thread here about them approx. a month ago, I registered with them -- minus the resume. Yesterday, I received email requesting resume. I responded that I had not included my resume initially because I'm an independent contractor and would be working WITH them, not FOR them. Their response:
<<You would be an independent contractor but you would be working for us as well. We will be training you to attend signings for us in different capacities as well as sending you signings that would meet you qualifications. We do require a resume for consideration.>>
I'm curious. Sent them my most recent CV.

Out of curiosity, I submitted my information and took their training and testing.
As far as I can see they are doing a lot with 'debt settlement' or 'debt resolution', which I'm not interested in doing at all.
I am wondering if they will actually offer any other type of signing work.

I too was asked for a resume and wrote them back saying I didn't have one and its been years since I have needed one. Today I got an email asking me to take the training and I have 1 week to do so. So, I guess they don't need the resume afterall. I'm going to take the training and see what its about and go from there. Doesn't mean I have to do anything past that.

2nd email of the day from them saying, " After reviewing your qualifications and evaluating our need for service coverage in your surrounding area, we are pleased to have the opportunity to offer you a position with the National Paralegal Network. " etc, etc.
The training consists of 2 videos. 1st one is 5:50 minutes long and gives a little company background. 2nd is 49:46 minutes and talks specifically about their debt resolution program. Took the test immediately afterward -- about 15 multiple answer questions. 3 questions re 1st video and all the rest on 2nd video. VERY easy. Takes them 24-48 hours to give results.
Now, let's see what kind of assignments and fees they offer ... if any.

I listened to the first video. What caught my attention is the "mandatory" weekly phone calls. You'd be given passwords to supply to confirm that you listened to the call. All without comment as to what kind or frequency of work, or pay range. If it's mandatory, I'm not an independent contractor per the IRS.

Hi~ I currently am a contractor working for this company. The mandatory conference call is once a MONTH not once a week, unless there is something I am not aware of - it has been this way since I started with them. If you can't make the live call then they provide a link the following day to listen to it. You do have to provide them with the password for each conference call - that is their way of keeping track of who attended the call, which again is mandatory. Thanks. Karla

I am researching them and their background. I will post if I find anything of interest. Also there is a difference between a personal resume for employment and a business resume for contract work.
The business resume is what they are looking for. Please dont email me and ask for examples. A business resume is sort of like a one page business brochure. It must contain your name, location address, phone numbers, email and website if you have one, what services you provide and your hours of operation and what geographical areas you work in.

I got the same email...
Apparently it's being sent out in bulk. I sent them an email inquiring their fee structure prior to completing the training. We'll see what they come back with.
