Nationial Paralegal Network

I listened to their presentation today but refuse to sign up with this company.

It makes me #$@**ing sick to see companies build a lucritave business by preying on people in a compromized financial situation.

Same with loan midifications. I did a loan mod a few years ago and the lady did all the work herself. People can negotiate their debt themselves.

Sorry Karla but this is crap.

They are simply there to provide qualified, well trained providers to present documents to clients so they are well informed in their decision according to FTC requirements. It's unfortunate that you can't see beyond your personal impressionistic beliefs and give this company a try. Many of you are, and will not be sorry for doing so when they start handing out the notary and NSA work.

I am done at this point in posting any more about this company - my only mission was to promote jobs for notaries across the country and I feel I have accomplished that. I applaud those that have applied and moving forward with this company.

Clarification on my post above: NPN is NOT a debt resolution company themselves, they hire contract workers and train them for law firms who specialize in debt resolution services. So as such, they are no different than any company on SC looking for a notary or NSA.

I know my posts will not change the minds of any of you, and honestly at this point I don't care. Just wanted to verbalize the clarification.

Karla, I think the vast majority of us here get the difference between them and their client.

You stated above:
"It's unfortunate that you can't see beyond your personal impressionistic beliefs and give this company a try. Many of you are, and will not be sorry for doing so when they start handing out the notary and NSA work."

Your accusation works both ways in terms of not being able to see beyond "impressionistic beliefs". I think that Buddy is in the majority with his view about this company (at the very least among those of us who have been around this business for a while) and that your continued promotion of them comes across as self-interest to win their contest. I also sadly believe that some who end up working for them may, in fact, end up sorry they do so. Just my personal opinion.

I won't be losing any sleep over not having applied to this company. It doesn't mean they're a bad company, but I'm not interested in handling work for their debt resolution client and I'm put off by their clouding over the distinction between employee and independent contractor.

I've turned down many an offer for debt resolution assignments from various other signing services who apparently have tried to fill these assignments for the same client in the past. This is after having asked lots of questions to assure myself that I would feel uncomfortable handling them the way they insist they be done. I encourage others to do the same thing before taking these assignments.

BTW, I'm pleased you've decided to stop posting about this!

I find that the problem is that they require that you sign up for both sides of the coin, the signing agent on one side and the debt resolution side. Personally I am a notary and loan signing agent. I have no desire to sign people up for a debt resolution plan. But some are ok with that, and will sign up. That is ok also. A matter of personal choice. I would only advise people to read thier agreements (once theyve been "accepted") and be sure that they are good with the details (ie monthly service deduction when you complete, assignments, no-compete requirement, cannot "decline" jobs at will, etc.)

How can this company hire indep contractors then train them?

Then they would be considered "temporary employees" and NOT working for themselves.

The company only pays $40 Karla? Then you have to pay them for work or to be listed with them? In all seriousness, how the hell can you justify that they are a 'good company' to work for?

I'd REALLY want to know?

Once upon a time I was a high endorser of a fellow named Andy...a signing service ...for whatever reasons, Andy stopped paying notaries or communicating.

It stings like the dickens when that happens or when one must realize that maybe he or she was wrong.

I have often been stuffed by eating my own words. They are bitter....I just do it and swallow really fast. It maintains my credibility.

Karla - Since you pm'd me with a request to state facts where you are wrong if my post is directed to you, I'm going to tell you what is most assuredly a fact.

-Few agree with your view on this.

-Fact #2 - The non-silent Majority of Notaries on NR don't like D.R. business, nor the contract provided by NPN.

I could give a crap about the majorityof opinions on this forum. Individually we have to make our own decisions and not follow the crowd.

you learn?

"I could give a crap about the majority of opinions on this forum."
"I don't think this continuing bickering is good"

What has happened to your "let's be nice" stance? You lectured many and nudged and prodded a few more with your morality, nice-nice policing. I knew you were a fraud when you let someone snipe at me and said nothing. Your fairness is totally biased to where you think the points in your favor lie.

Dry your tears honey, adjust your attitude and don't take everything so personal. The business world is rough and tumble, competitive and not as forgiving and politically correct as we might like at all times.

A little fire strengthens steel.

OMG! I have done nothing wrong from the get-go - in return I have received nothing but berating in re-turn from the few on here that are always snarly and always right based on longevity. I have seen this happen over and over on this forum as sad as it is.

I have worked in the business world with the public for over 30 years so you don't need to preach to me how rough and tumble the world is - I'll compare resumes and accolades with you any day!

Now can we please shut this conversation down - not one more word - PLEASE. (wait for it . . .let's see who that next person is that can't stand to be quiet over this!!!)

I remember when that happened with Andy, Brenda. I think that most people that had been familiar with him was blown away by his actions. Hope he was okay as that was totally out of character. Totally different situation from this one, however, so you should not feel bad. Most would have given him the thumbs up!
