record a deed

Do all county auditors require a three inch margin on the first page of a document before they will record.
Title send a document to be recorded and it did not have a three inch margin on the first page. Extra $100.00 for a cover page.
Is this the norm?

Requirements may vary from county to county. You may want to check with the county in question before making the trip. JMHO

It seems to be the norm for MO and KS. I have never seen one without it since I started, although I am fairly new (less than a year).

WA "margins" recording law

Yes, this WA state statute is to be found in RCWs (WA stats), so is same in every county in WA.

And I'd guess that most of us have had to redo a doc or two because we overlooked this dumb law...I certainly have!

If your title co here is in WA this was a major screwup as they're supposed to be the layman's law source and they normally as very careful. Call T Co manager and demand it fix this screwup.
