Are you low on gas? Call some gas stations out of your area but on route to see if any are open. If not, cancel if you think you cant make it back home. Not worth getting stranded somewhere.

How can anyone answer that question for you? I don't think any of us here know how much gas is in your tank. Perhaps you can give us the year, make and model of your car, and we can figure it out for you. And, don't forget to let us know the current amount of gas in your tank so we can give you an accurate evaluation.

all kidding aside.........
if the pay is acceptable, as you stated, you have plenty of gas, safety is not an issue, by all means go for it. Just take into account all pros and cons.

This is a difficult call and unusual circumstances surely
If in your heart and conscience, you feel sincere hardship, you may want to call SS/TC and explain that you would like to at very least see if they cannot reassign, if borrower can meet you say halfway or some mutually agreeable place. They may be able to reassign. If not, it will depend on whether you are able to move forward without their business in the future. There are those who have had auto accidents (and obviously did not enounter bodily harm which prevented them from doing so) and who called borrowers to report they would be delayed but rented autos and showed up to complete their day. Part of the business unfortunately. The call is really yours.
Good luck with this.

These are hard calls to make. No one knows for sure
when gas stations will re-open in many areas. I'd also guess you don't know what may be between you & that borrower as far as hazards are concerned. While it's hard to turn away business, I know I'd opt for health & safety first. My niece is going ahead with her plans to travel from PA to NY for the marathon. I still can't believe it wasn't postponed, but it is an international event.

Re: These are hard calls to make. No one knows for sure
Thanks everyone for your input. I think I'm just going to go ahead and complete the assignment and talk to borrowers to see if they can meet half way and hopefully fill up on the way back. As always I love the support that we have on the forum.
Everyone be safe out there!

That's a great idea about meeting the borrowers half way. Everyone involved in this transaction should be understanding of the horrific events that have just transpired this past week and the fact that there is definitely a gas shortgage in your area and that while you still need to make a living, you have to also conserve your precious resources......and in this case it is gasoline. I would definitely take ToniK's advice about finding a gas station along the route and calling ahead to see if they have gas, and after what I saw on the news today, find out if there is going to be a line five blocks long.
Good luck to you.

On the bright side, maybe being that far away you can fill up there? Call the buyers and ask if they have gas stations open with no lines. If so, I would do it. If not, I would pass. Gas is worth more than the $100.00 or so you would be making, or try and meet them 1/2 way like other's said.
