Phone technology
Called the borrower(s) to confirm the appointment and I get a bad call message, but it not the usual bad number/ disconnected/etc it's an electronic message that say " this person is not accepting calls at this time".
What up with that? How do set up a message like that?
Next, I call their home phone and after" the leave a message instruction"; I get a speaker phone talking and I think it is the borrower breaking into talk on the phone and after about 6 tries or more I realize it my voice on their speaker phone mechanically repeating what I am saying. I finally just said I'll see you at the bank tomorrow. Might be interesting? I have never had this response on either calls in 10 years.
Am I just behind in phone technology?

"...person is not accepting calls..." message
If you call my mom on her cell, you will get that message - because she doesn't want to be bothered learning how to retrieve v/m, so never set up the v/m service. I can guarantee she pays her bill. She has a cell phone strictly for "emergencies" and she means that literally. She keeps the phone wrapped in Saran Wrap, and doesn't even turn it on unless she's leaving the house.
On the home phone, my mom has BOTH a v/m service AND an answering machine - and the competition between the two can sometimes be like a game of 'fun with phones'. She doesn't know how to retrieve the v/m service ones, so ... sometimes it's easier to just write a letter.
