Serving Subpoenas
I would like to know what others charge for serving subpoena's and their thoughts as well. Thanks for the input.

Low pay, not worth the risk and better have a weapons permit. Big reason why police serve in NJ.

That's what my thought was. The subpoena is suppose to be served to a company. Sheriff's Officer's usually do these things in Texas also.

Usually a legal courier company will serve subpoenas also.

If this is a double post, please forgive me but I don't see my earlier response.
Kelly, I've been serving process since 2009. If are you still interested in learning more about this just give me a call or shoot me an email. Every state has its own requirements concerning who can serve papers and whether you have to be licensed, etc. While I am only familiar with Alabama's laws, I can point you in the right direction to learn about your state's requirements. It took awhile but I finally found some really good books on the subject (how-to-books) so don't buy anything until you're sure you're interested.

Is this the same as a "process server"? I was told it is low pay $20.00 and sometime you must make several trips to the same location to actually catch the person home.

If you're a big hulk of a guy, have a carry permit and ready for anything that comes your way, but if you're just a little girl with no defense weapon, not even skilled at mace, I'd leave it alone.
There are better ways to earn a living than this!
