Stamp for commission date
I'm thinking of getting a stamp for my commission date, to make it easier to fill in all the certs that have a blank for it. Has anyone ever had a client who insisted that date be written by hand?

You're referring to the date of expirationm I think? Well, nothing like giving it a try...just one more little thing to track. My own expires September 1, 2013. Too late to get a renewal for May or June or July! I always write it out, no abbreviations or shortcuts. It does become annoying at times. Flagstar loans has a notary filling this in more than most lenders, yesterday I had a Bank of Manhattan package where every certificate, jurat and acknowledgment required the commission expiration date, and the borrower was required to date every signature line. A little repetitive. They wanted to know if they could use a date stamp. Nope! gotta be the real enchilada in their own handwriting.

One of my stamps has a blank line after "my commission expires" (wanted to have when my "normal" one failed me); however, I still hand write the exp. where called for. Double-duty, I think, but best not to leave any blank lines . . .

Personally I would not want one. It is much faster while you have pen in hand signing your name to just write the exp date in. You would have to put the pen down, pick up the stamp, stamp it, put it down, pick up the pen again. JMO of course.

My problem is remembering to write 2015 rather than 2012.

Well that's a good point, I have to double check that all
the time. Mine is 2016 and I sometimes put 2012. But the thought of 1 more stamp Ugh. I already have 3.

My notary stamp includes the expiration date, but I still write it in the blank, if there is one. Sometimes the cert doesn't have a blank for the expiration date, but we are required to include it. Having it on my stamp ensures that it's always there.
