I'm with you, I also passed on taking their exam. If they don't trust the training I've already taken then I don't need their business.

Actually ....
... be sure to save the contact info for Jaclyn Fox provided in the e-mail for when you need to chase your $$.
Aside from that, I clicked on the link and took a look at what was going on and actually there is a very valuable intro to loan docs that would be of great help to any newbie.
The rest is often humorous: Such as "Professional Attire „« Dress in professional, business ¡Vlike attire: „X Sport Coats, suits, skirts to the knee, slacks/khakis, blouses, collared shirts are acceptable „X You are not permitted to wear jeans, sneakers, t-shirts, shorts, beach sandals or any type of footwear that is open toe or has straps between the toes. Example flip flops, thongs. (this is funny, considering at least half of my borrowers require me to take me shoes off) „X You are not permitted to show bare backs, cleavage, midriffs or hips. (Hey, I don't even want to see that in my house!) „X No rips, tears, holes or shredding of any kind. „X No distracting facial piercings or exposed body piercings „X No inappropriate, distracting or obscene tattoos. Must be covered. „X No hair styles/color that are distracting such as mohawks, unnatural colors. „X You are not permitted to wear any items with logos or writing on clothing. Exceptions are small logos such as Nike, Polo etc. with small logo over the pocket.
Courtesy „« Do not bring a guest (friend, child, spouse or pet). „« Always use designated walkways/paths to get to the front door. Do not cross lawn and/or flowerbeds. Be careful not to track dirt or mud into the borrower¡¦s home. „« Greet the Borrower with a handshake (Eeewww, no unnecessary touchng esp. during flu season. I even wipe pens off after use. Additionally, I make sure my right hand is full of pens and loan docs when I get to the door so I'm not able to shake hands with borrowers), introducing yourself by first and last name as a signing agent of Mortgage Connect on behalf of Lenders Name. Wait to be invited inside. „X Once inside suggest an appropriate place to conduct the signing such as a kitchen or dining room table. „« Be prepared to present identification to the borrower to establish your identity.
Conduct During the Signing „« Do not accept calls or text messages during your time with the borrower. (Dream on!) „X All devices must be silenced. „X The customer must have your complete and undivided attention at all times.
Do not engage in personal conversation with the borrower at any time. „X Personal conversation can be defined as discussing anything unrelated or not associated to the closing. „X No discussions on sports, politics, religion, news events or even comments on the borrower¡¦s home are permitted. (Now what's the fun in that?? Not that a recent conversation I had with a borrower was "fun," but they had their TV on a Sandy news channel which was discussing FEMA, They then proceeded to tell me their experience with FEMA during the 1991 Berkely/Oakland firestorm that killed 25 people, including some in their student housing apt building who tried to take refuge in the swimming pool. So very sad and horrifying. Incidentally, they were big fans of FEMA ... Mr. Borrower now makes $26,500/mo as a physician but back then they were starvng students and grateful for the $600 in cash they got from FEMA, as well as other aid for clothes, food and housing. But oops! shoulda told them to zip it if this were a MC signing.)

Re: Actually ....
Well my hair is dyed jet black with face framing Raven purple highlights. It blends into the Jet black and when the light hits it BO's ask if my hair is really purple or an optical illusion. lol As for the personal conversation with BO's...yes we talk about what is going on in thier life, the world, election. They bring it up and I actually feel uncomfortable if I just stick to the loan docs. Im in their home its very unpolite to not engage in friendly conversation.
I agree with your comment about taking shoes off. 95% of homes I go into Im asked to remove my shoes. One couple even offered me fresh socks to wear and another asked me to wear flip flops they provided. Weird on that last request

Down here in farm country, with the historic older
homesteaders we meet, it's impossible NOT to talk on a personal level - it's something they're more comfortable with. I've had great table talk with borrowers, and learned a lot about the area, all while they smiled and signed away. I wouldn't give that up or give it away for a million dollars -

No barefeet
I refuse to walk on borrowers floors barefooted. Yuk! I bought a bunch of anklet type socks and always keep a new pair (or at least a clean pair) tucked in my notary bag and put them on when they make me take my shoes off. No way am I sitting there barefooted... or wearing their socks or flipflops, which I also have been offered.

Re: No barefeet
In Vermont, especially in winter, it's customary to remove outdoor boots/shoes, so I keep a pair of deerskin moccasins in an outer pocket of my notary bag - easy to slip on & off.

Makes you wonder how they get any business...must be some sort of personal relationship between heads of departments and MC...
I won't work for them as their reputation definitely precedes them....DNWF... in my phone.
