Before cell phones and computers
for those of you who were doing this more than 15 years, how did this job work before edocs and cell phones? Just a thought

I haven't been doing this for 15 years, but I do remember when the norm used to be to send documents overnight to the notary. We had all docs in advance and could just line 'em up. And often the fees were higher than what is being paid today for us to sometimes wait until the last minute and print ourselves.

Overnight docs and pagers. You had to go find a phone booth, unless you had the monster cell phone in your car. Now we are in a hurry up and do it cheaper world.

Believe me it was much easier back then. Docs were either delivered to notary or to borrower. You usually received the night before or by 10:00 the day of the closing. There were no late docs. They were either there or not. If not, no signing that day! I am still waiting for a Chase signing that is to take place in 30 minutes and still no docs but they are working on it.

welcome to the Chase Club: that means you have to chase down the Docs

In 2002 everything was overnight documents, rarely edocs...My fedex guy would say, what the heck do you do for a living...he couldn't believe how much stuff I got. I finally bought a rubbermaid storage cabinet for him to place all the packages in so they wouldn't get wet!
We've always worked with phone calls of some sort to receive/accept orders, and sometimes emails. Back in the hey day, packages would show up with payments in advance for the signing event. That's how crazy the business way.
I prefer edocs, if they are on time.
