CE Escrow, Southern California
Just had a call from a "restricted number". The woman identified herself as calling from an escrow company in Southern California. Had to really press her to get the name of CE Escrow.
She said she had a little problem. Loan package was signed 9/24th but Title had entered incorrect city name on docs. She wanted to know if I could get it re-signed today with Monday's date.
I asked her, "you want me to notarize some docs today with another date?" She meekly answered, "yes." Me <NO.> Her, "thanks." Hang up.
Is it still full moon????

Shoot... I wouldn't have just said no. I would have been telling them it's illegal for them to even ASK and I'd start quoting CC 8225...
I'm awful about that.
I wish these doofuses (sp?) realized that just asking us to do something illegal actually made them criminals. Well, they have to know that what they are asking us to do is illegal... but all it takes is one of us to say, "Hey no, I can't do that, it's illegal."

I'm 99.99% sure she knew she was asking something illegal. She's very hesitant about giving company name; she's speaking in a meek and low voice; she states she's got "a little problem"; she doesn't ask if I'm available, she asks if I "would" do it; and, she's calling on a "restricted number."
Unfortunately, I'd wager she found someone to help her out.

I'm sure she did find somebody. Do they make an angry smiley?
