CSS - Convenient Settlement Services NC
For those that would like a positive opinion and reference. I have closed loans for this company for 2 years and have done countless signing for these folks. I have never had a problem being paid and its really "convenient" that there is no billing required.
Just like EVERY signing company they have requirements and as tough as it may seem (kidding) they do require you to send 1 form in after closing so they know their job for their customer is completed and you can get paid. Also as with EVERY company that you take work from most do have "sign up" documents/packets to be filed out to meet their requirements. I'm pretty sure that's done so they know your not just a flunky and so they can meet regulatory laws.
All and all, after 17 years of being a mobile loan signer I think they rank at the top. Thanks Josh and Melissa!

amen about working for peanuts. Never worked with them personally so can't say anything good or bad. But 75 with edocs, blah.

So how much should a notary get with edocs? When I post higher terms I'm told notaries in "my area" receive $50-$80 service fee and $15 for printing. I just received that response last week. I do think it is peanuts considering all the printing, review and attention to detail. But how to get work with the company if they don't accept your negotiation?

SharNC: Did you post that on NotRot?
Don't find that posting with the handle SharNC. Please enlighten.
I find it difficult to believe any notary on NotRot would advise you to charge $50 - $80 for edocs!

No it was a return email from a company that is listed here on notary rotary. Here is the reply "Fee Sheet – I have a few concerns with this item. The fees that you provided are very high. I did some research and found that other notaries in the same counties that you cover charge a base fee of $55-80 with an edoc fee of $15. "

Re: SharNC: Did you post that on NotRot?
but ya anything less than 100 is way to little, that is my bare min. I have a bunch that pay 125, and a few that pay more than that. And when people tell me that they have other notaries in my area that take signings for 60-75, I tell them to call them, because it is not worth my time to leave my kids. lol. If they really had people to take signings for that amount, why are they calling you. If they get desperate enough or when the low ball notaries are booked up, you will get the call. And you will be doing half the amount of signings, and making just as much. I don't wanna have 10 at 75 each, I would rather do 6 or 5 and make the same amount.

Re: SharNC: Did you post that on NotRot?
No notary on Notary Rotary advised me to charge $50-$80 + $15 for edocs. The representative from Vendor Management of a title company told me my fees were to high and quoted the fees noted above as the going rate for my area/counties.

Also, the company is not CSS. I just noticed the comments about $75 being peanuts and thought I would chime in.

:o) I agree. The company is Service Link, and I just review comments by others and see more than a few comments about low pay.

There are still great companies to work with that pay $125, $150, or even $175 per closing. The large national TC's like Service Link pay bottom of the barrel. Same with LSI and TS. I do work for the latter two but keep it to LOCAL ONLY for those fees. I have never worked for SL and don't want to, given all the invoicing confusion I see posted here.

Re: I get that comment as well: in your county/area, this is wh
There are multiple parts of SL. Only 1 part of ServLink is the low baller. Other parts typically pay the above "going" rates for a quality notary without any problem. My fee is my fee is my fee. It is MY service I am providing, and it is MY fee I am charging, as it is MY business. 6x $75= $450 and 3x $150= $450. The 3x $150 is a lot more profitable since it requires 1/2 the time, toner and all the other business supplies, gas, etc. If one accepts low fees, then you are part of your own problem. I do realize that newbies to the business need the experience, but they fall victim to the preditory SServ. unfortunately, and I'll bet that is NOT mentioned in the XYZ course.

Re: I get that comment as well: in your county/area, this is wh
Exactly as Brother states.
ServiceLink does call me. They know my fees and pay those fees with no issues. Initially, they would call me only for e-signings. Lately, they've been calling for "regular" signings. Each time, I've reminded them I'm only approved for e-signings (because of high fees). And, each time they've maintained they're swamped and can use my services. I've accommodated and they've paid my fee (in less than 2 weeks).
Each one of us, as independent contractors, set our own fees. Don't let the SS or TC tell you what that fee is.
