Chase - just don't get it....

Someone posted her earlier today re: Chase docs running late. I actually just had to turn a Chase closing back to ServiceLink just for this reason (30min before a closing that is 70min away & still no docs - waiting on HUD approval). In any case what I don't understand is I have another Chase loan scheduled for later this evening & I have had those docs for nearly two days now. Very strange. I don't mind Chase loans because they are pretty quick & easy but am thinking about limiting the travel time on them just in case they are running late.

Got a call at 1:00 for a 3:00 Chase signing. Received docs at 2:00. TS, which is pretty unusual to have a same day signing. They usually schedule out at the very least, a day ahead of time.

Thats what is so frustrating. Most of the Chase loans I have been closing were scheduled daysahead but Chase or title or whoever seems to wait to the last minute to try to do everything and we are not even at EOM yet. Can't wait....

Jan, what probably happened with your TS Chase closing is the original notary turned it back due to late docs, and it was rescheduled for a later time with you.

They are busy preparing the 12 copies of RTC.

I don't know what happened, but the borrowers were pretty flakey. TS is hot and cold. I get a rash of signings from them for a couple of weeks and then they go cold for a couple of weeks. I'm grateful that they call.

I have not had a problem with Chase loans this week. I have a closing with TS for next week and I already have the docs..Great!

Their branch offices are VERY involved in the process

It depends entirely on the loan officer and branch manager. Some are on the ball about everything, and some will make you crazy. I've done lots and lots of chase loans for the past couple of years. I've learned to ask which branch it's coming from because some I know will be a headache.

Company policy says the LO has to attend the closing (but we know that doesn't always happen). When I have an in-branch closing, I arrive even without docs, have the LO approve the HUD on the spot and they do the printing.

Most of the time they're happy to do it. (I don't know why--I wonder what happens to them when they miss a closing?)

I closed a loan recently for a loan officer at a new bank that used to work for Chase and she "enlightened" me on some of their processes.

Re: Their branch offices are VERY involved in the process

I would consider it luxury to get docs 30-60 minutes in advance for a Chase! More often than not, we are talking at time of closing to four hours past.

I agree -- many times I'll get called by FASS because the notary who was originally booked could not go out four hours after the originally scheduled time. Most of the time (except when I'm already booked) I can go out fairly late, and most of the time it's a fair distance I'm asked to go. My recent quotes have been in the $200-$300 range and have been accepted several times. To be their beck and call girl, I have a price. It's a win/win for both sides.

As for in-office, I'll be happy to take $$ to sit at the office for a short amount of time and let them do the printing. I've noticed, though, that since FASS instituted mandatory training, I have not had a single Chase loan arrive late. Let's hope the trend continues! I wonder whether that's why other title companies (Servicelink, LSI) are no longer able to come up with docs on time?
