Crap.....I keep saying "Closings".....
..... and I'm trying very hard to remember to say "signings" so please bear with me until I get the hang of that. I am so used to calling them "closings". My dear friends here at Notary Rotary have educated me on the fact that we really are doing "signings" and not "closings" and I totally agree with that. It's just that old habits are very hard to break. It's kind of like coo-pons vs. que-pons.....pa-tay-toe vs. pa-tah-toe.....soda vs. pop.....wash vs. warsh......bags vs. sacks....and closings vs. signings. Oh and one more.......hot dish vs. casserole.
Just a little light humor for you all today. Hope everyone is having a great day. I came home to wait for docs for my next signing.

They ARE closings, "signing" sounds crazy
I will never ever ever ever ever ever call them closings and no one really cares if we call them closings or signings at the end of the day anyway.

Here's what I think
I would rather get "paid" for a "closing" than "stiffed" for a "signing" Just a thought.

Actually by way of typo the other day, "Singings" was
the name somebody gave them. That has a nice ring to it....

In some of the fights over whether states are to be attorney-only states, it is argued that closing is a process that occurs over a period of time (days, months?) and that the signing by the buyer/borrower is only a part of it. So if there is going to be a deed or mortgage involved, I don't think it's wrong to call it a closing, as long as you keep in mind the appointment you attend isn't the entire closing.

who cares really? borrowers don't know, lenders, title,
realtors all say closing so why fight it? I used to always say signings but only because thats my history as an LO. Now sometimes I even find myself saying closing these days since I hear it so often! it just isn't that important in the scheme of things. I say let it go!! hakuna matata. Que sera sera. don't worry, be happy!!

What A Fun Thread...
.....well everytime I said "closings" people kept correcting me and saying that I do "signings" (oops.....I almost typed singings). Well crap.......I think I might go back to saying "closings" again if it really doesn't matter at the end of the day. Now I think I will go make myself a hero, clip some que-pons, do a little warsh, and enjoy a nice cold pop.
