Fax backs and edocs included in the price

I offer these as part of growing my business. When I get as busy as I want I will increase my fee to weed out the lower paying SC (all over $XXX) but still offer the above. Not really a problem with a scanner and auto doc feeder and an email fax set up.

You will find that when you stop working for the signing services that require fax backs as a form of babysitting you will not have this request very often.

That is good to hear. I hate doing the faxbacks but there are certain companies that require it. My biggest issue was finding everything they wanted faxed back and putting these docs back in the same place in the package. After reading all the posts I think I will stop inserting the docs in the same place in a package and just put them all together on top. That will reduce my frustration.

I ALWAYS charge and additional $15-20 for fax backs. First of all, it reduces the number of services that request it, and secondly, it pays me for the aggravation.

By the way, I have totally stopped using my actual FAX machine for this exercise. When it's absolutely unavoidable, I scan the documents using Adobe Acrobat (I'm using version 9 which you can pick up for a very reasonable price on eBay) and send the resultant .pdf file as an email. This does two very positive things a) keeps me in complete control of the scan process (with a FAX you never know what's been transmitted or received) and b) I have incontrovertible proof that the documents were sent AND received because the email doesn't bounce.

I highly recommend scanning vs FAXing of documents. It's easy, fast and very safe, and YOU stay in control of the process. Nirvana

Scanning and email offers more quality control for yourself. You know exactly what was sent and received. The necessity of "faxbacks" depends on who is asking for them. Purchases and non homestead refi's require them for same day funding. Most title companies won't ask for them unless required by the lender's instructions, even on owner occupied refinances. If it comes from a SS, they are generally checking on the quality of your work. These situations are unnecessary and do show a lack of trust from the signing company. If asking for a higher fee, this is the situation where you should go for it.

I believe the requirement for non-purchases and same-day funding is coming from companies that don't want to deal with the requirement from the lender (B of A, as an example). If the SS/TC asks us to do it, it saves them time. Might as well put it on our back at no charge. Lender requires it of them, not us.

I did a signing last week that had all the fax back pages in the front then a sheet that said "End of fax backs". I wish they all would do that, it makes it not as much of a pain to fax back.

See msg. 440854. We used to charge $25 additional

for faxbacks. I quote a standard fee that includes edocs, because I rarely get o/n docs.
