Fee, etc.
Why do these companies call you for a signing and expect for you to negotiate on your listed fee for pennies just to accommodate them? I get a lot of calls for signings and they want me to receive their docs via email, print multiple copies - 4 or 5, complete the signing AND then send all docs back express mail or fax. Which i do anyway. But not for a measly $50. Clearly these job cost and is worth more than $50-$75 to complete. What about the pay for my services period?
The nerve of these companies!!!

Actually, I don't think they care what any of us think. There's a segment out there, imo, that just see us as "tools", a way to get past an annoying road block - i.e. getting a signature notarized - and they don't care how it gets done, they just want it done and want to pay as little as possible to accomplish that. (I ran into that attitude with a RE "salesman" earlier this week. Rude, self-important, and clueless on some things.) They also know that there are enough notaries out there who don't know any better and who will fall for some of the tactics being used by those folks. Recent posts on this board confirm that there's a new batch coming along all the time. (I mean new people to this business - don't mean to imply that they are necessarily among the clueless...)

Janet, I agree with you. IMO do they see us as a tool to simply get a notarization. Companies, in general and not necessarily only to this business, will always seek the least expensive to do the job. Since a few people communicate here and share our experiences, it's nice to have the support of each other. I know I take everyone's comments to heart, learn from the comments, and continually adjust based on the comments.
This forum is a great asset for everyone; veterans and newbies. I started following this forum for a few months to learn, and boy did I learn, before accepting assignments. Sticking to your fees is essential to remain in business and to be profitable.
There will always be the lowballers that will prey on the young. Hopefully, the young will consistently monitor this forum for the exceptional wisdom of others, and watch SC (Signing Central).

I know, I know. I had a call today for a RM App. for $75.
I said "absolutely not", quoted my fee, they got it approved. There's too much biz these days to deal with the quibblers! ;-)
