Find a Notary mileage
Just received a call from SoCal signings, very rude, wanted a closing done in Chesapeake Beach, told him it was an hour away and didn't have time with driving time to fit it in. He advised that This Site said its 20 miles from me and that I am wrong. Well thats as the Crow flies, tried to explain to him that it is across a river and have to drive to a bridge to cross it. Well he saide I am wrong and he was very nasty :Suggested Routes to Chesapeake Beach zipcode 20732 MD-4 N 1 hour 1 min / 43.64 miles or Three Notch Rd 1 hour 9 mins / 47.68 miles

Not surprised... the same company tried to convince me that I could get to a particular location 90 sooner than actually possible because Google Maps said so.
I tried to explain, and even illustrate that there was this big thing call EDWARDS AFB in the way... and the road that the map program showed, while it exists, is closed to the general public and I would not get past the big guard gate with young men with big guns.
I tried to tell them that I have to drive AROUND the base, like most people do out here... and it's faster anyway... because even if I did take the base road, the speed limit is so darn low that (and they will pull you over for speeding) that it's not even worth it. Seriously, even most of the military folk who can cut through base end up driving around because it's faster.
Mapping programs only tell a small part of the story, and zip code searches are never accurate.

I get that alot, too. "Google maps states you are only 12 miles away". I was actually 38 miles one way. I know the areas I service and distances involved. I try to explain it, but is falls on deaf ears. And, when I state my fee, well - - we have a third pary vendor who will do this for less money.

Now that's techie idiocy--Google maps knows better where
you are than you do!!! ;-) LOL I get calls for the Eastern Shore of VA. On the map it may show that it's only 45 miles or so. LOL You only have to cross the Chesapeake Bay via the Chesapeake Bay-Bridge Tunnel. That's about 36 miles & a $12 toll one-way. I actually know some notaries willing to do that! Not this notary. There's too much biz closer to home. :-)

Just something I find odd.
I have a Garmin, now don't get me wrong, I love it, but.... Why is it after I leave a signing and hit "go home", it takes adiferent route?

Actually, that's true for many people! I'm always shocked at how many people are completely unable to give directions to their home or workplace.

Re: Now that's techie idiocy--Google maps knows better where
I for one get lost easy and rely on my GPS to find my way home sometimes. I use the philosophy of if I know the way then I ignore the GPS. If I know the map has an issue, such as one of roads is one lane and leads to a locked forest service gate, I ignore those directional instructions. I will listen to the GPS when I really don't know where I am and how to get to my destination.
When I give directions to my house I use the terms "north, south, east, and west" rather than right or left. It is amazing how many people don't understand these terms. If a person is going one direction the turn will be east. If the person comes from another direction the turn will be west. To solve my problem, I have a compass on the dashboard (in addition to having a GPS).
When I know where a person is coming from, I feel safe in saying to make a "right or left turn" someplace. Giving directions a major skill that I don't have.
