Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Scanner Update
There were 6 people who either responded to the forum thread I posted or e-mailed us expressing an interest in the scanner deal NewEgg was running. As it turns out, we were able to buy 6 scanners using the 20% off code, which also triggered a small volume discount.

The part number is PA03586-B005 and it runs $415 through BH Photo Video, $430.51 through Provantage, and $417.98 through NewEgg (all prices include shipping). The scanner is universally highly rated.
I am contacting those 6 people now and giving them the option of buying one of these scanners through us at $335. If they're not gone by Monday night, I'll send purchase instructions to anyone who responds to this post on a first-come, first-served basis.

This is a GOOD deal people... if any of the 6 don't snap these up then you should get in line if you can. I have this scanner and I cannot recommend it enough for the type of work we do. It is a LIFESAVER for faxbacks, among other things.

Just a word of advice to keep in mind..just in case...
speaking from experience - and I don't know if it will ever be an issue for any of you but I want to throw it out there
We just bought this scansnap at the office both for court e-filings and our bankruptcy practice. In setting it up to scan with the BK program it was discovered that TWAIN driver are required - a call to Fujitsu and we were told the Scansnap 1500 is not compatible with TWAIN - Fujitsu's other scanners are but not the scansnap 1500. We had to buy another small scanner strictly for bk's.
Not sure if any of you do work where TWAIN is required, but make sure you check before you buy.
I do want to say this is a remarkable scanner - I LOVE it for all other purposes so far!!

Re: Just a word of advice to keep in mind..just in case...
That's a good point about the TWAIN drivers...
One think to know about the ScanSnap, though, is that is comes with the FULL version of Adobe Acrobat, not just the reader, but the full-on editor version of the software, which pretty much eliminates the need for TWAIN for what it's intended to be used for.
That said, the lack of TWAIN is kind of a stupid oversight, but I do see why they left it out. For most people using this scanner, it isn't necessary.

I need TWAIN for making deposits to my bank account.

I just wanted to share our experiences..
We bought that scansnap for other office things, but there's part of the bk program that requires scanning and uploading - it's 2-4 pages per file, max. Because of the lack of TWAIN drivers, we had to buy ANOTHER scanner strictly for the bk program uploads...
Thank God my bosses are easygoing. But I was stunned when Fujitsu told us it's a no-go...we needed their other model to do that.

Just ordered Adobe XI for my group. 11 licenses.
Holey Toledo. The new interface will blow them away...AWAY.

Re: I just wanted to share our experiences..
Yep, I also found out that I couldn't use a Fujitsu model for TWAIN scans. Shoot, TWAIN is so old that not having TWAIN is like not having COPY/PASTE function. It stunned me, too.

Re: Harry --- will this scanner work w/NR outbound fax service..
Why would you bother to scan then fax when you could scan directly to email and send? Save a step or two.

Re: Harry --- will this scanner work w/NR outbound fax service..
With my current scanner I can scan to a file then, when all copies are scanned, fax or email that file. If I scan to a file first, I will have a copy in case the company says I am missing a document when they get the package & I only have to baby sit the documents once as they go through the auto- feed apparatus (where jams & mis-feeds can happen, esp. with my Brother MFC). This will save me a step or two, but I could be mistaken in my addition.
And most of the companies that I work for that want 'fax backs' will not accept an emailed attachment.
& , while I am wanting a decent (& inexpensive) fax/scan machine that will replace my Brother, mostly I would like to know if/when NR is going to actually implement the out-going fax service that was last mentioned in May, 2012, about 5 months ago. I am anxious to get rid of my land-line telephone service & not anxious to sign-up with the fax services I see on the internet.
