I was in a car accident today
All I could think about when I woke up this morning was the six closings I had scheduled for today. Should I have even taken on six closings for one day? Would I have all my docs on time? Would I be able to stay on schedule for all of these closings? What if I get a reader today? Much to my surprise and delight, all my packages were here first thing this morning. Title company even added extra money on one of my orders because the borrowers couldn't keep their original appointment time and I would have to make the trip back to their neighborhood this evening. The first three closings go perfectly and I am actually ahead of schedule. This day is looking pretty good. As I am headed back home to prepare myself for round two and my final three closings of the day.......out of nowhere.....a speeding pick up truck crashes into the back of the lady in the lane next to me and then goes airborne and rams into the side of my car knocking my car into the next lane as he continues across the top of my car, across the median, and bounces twice into oncoming traffic before landing next to a concrete pole under the freeway. The good Lord sure was looking out for me today. Surprisingly enough no one was hurt in the accident. Even the young man in the speeding truck was okay.
So then my mind goes back to the six closings I had taken on for today and how was I going to make it through three more closings today with a broken car. By this point I was behind schedule. I pick up the phone and call a friend and tell them to come and get me......I have to finish my closings......docs are dated for today and I am not going to call these title companies and have them find a replacement for me at the last moment. I call the borrowers and explain that I had been in an accident and I was hoping they had a little flexibility and that we were definitely going to get their loans closed tonight......just maybe not exactly as originally planned. Everyone was so great about it. Two of the closings actually offered to come to me. We compromised and I had them meet me at the local Starbucks closer to their homes where I was able to settle in to a table, eat a little something, and get their closings both done back to back.
So tonight when I go to sleep, instead of worrying about closings, and readers, and staying on schedule.....I am going to thank God for a successful business, for great friends, for great clients, and most of all for always keeping me safe.

You are blessed that you were not injured. Be extra attentive over the next few days that you have not suffered a whiplash type muscular injury. Sometimes those take days to manifest. Sorry about your car; that sounds like one helluva pileup.

Wow! Glad you're OK!!
Sounds like you had an angel on your shoulder today, thank goodness! These kinds of stories can help us keep our perspective about what we do and what our priorities need to be. I think Hugh makes a very good point, though. This is probably a weekend to stay home, take it easy, and as you indicated, count your blessings!!

Your perseverance (in spite of being in a horrible wreck) and professionalism (going forward with your last signings of the day) is remarkable. You are stronger than I would have been.
I'm glad you were not injured! Your body may "complain" for a while because it will feel the stress you were involved in. You might have aches and pains and wonder why. I have been in accidents where I was not injured buy oh boy did I ache for days.
Take care and continue to count your blessings.

That was some accident. Definitely take off the next two days. If I were you, I would go to the doctor or chiropractor and get checked out. Take care and get some rest.

Just got up and saw this. I am so happy to hear that you are okay. That is certainly first and foremost. Just wanted to say this privately.
Spoken like the wonderful NSA that you are, the thoughts went to the docs and borrowers... thankfully they were so lovely about it. I wish and hope lenders and title companies and signing companies could see and mirror the loyalty. Anyhow. Not important right now.
Your last sentence says it all,
"So tonight when I go to sleep, instead of worrying about closings, and readers, and staying on schedule.....I am going to thank God for a successful business, for great friends, for great clients, and most of all for always keeping me safe."
So, my NR friend, I hope your aches and pains are few today and have a nice weekend.

From what you described, it is such a miracle that noone was injured. You and all involved will be in my prayers. Do get checked out. For those us driving every day, it's a great reminder to be extra cautious. I have been seeing accidents daily. We are in such a rush, rush world.

I will submit your name for consideration to HASGON of NR
Haughty and Self-righteous Grouchy Old Notaries of Notary Rotary (see Msg #401519) of which I am the most high and presiding Gran Reina.
Your heroic acts of soldering on through for the good of God, borrowers, and country in spite of the fact that you were probably in shock and without transportation shows that you have what it takes to be a member of HASGON.
However, one requirement to get into HASGON is that get yourself to the doctor and get checked out asap. You are probably just fine, although very sore today. Be smart. You won't have a case if you don't get there and get started with a medical examination. Hopefully, speeding guy has insurance in case you need therapy for a nerve pinch. Gran Reina is worried about you.
PS - My name in this elite society club is Cara Peluda Reina and it carries a lot of weight. I am sure that I can get you in.
If you do not speak Spanish, here are the secret decoder links. I will send the secret knock and handshake later.

Former nurse, current HASGON insists:
See a doc, let him evaluate you. Soft tissue injuries show up by the 3rd day. Drink lots of water to flush out muscular toxins release from injury, and take OTC NSAIDS (over the counter Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like ibuprofen, naproxen to reduce swelling and ease muscular pain. Use a heating pad on sore areas.
And mind your Gran Reina, or else....
Feel better. Prayers are going out for your recovery!

and to Cara Peluda Reina:
Excuse me for saying so, but you also need to see a doc. When a Gran Reina gets to be of a certain age....HRT will normally resolve that little issue.

Re: So, PegiT_MN . . . when is your doctor appointment.
Yes, the doctor is the best thing to do. Having been in 4 auto accidents in my life, none of which were my fault, I know the long term problems that happen.
And someone also commented to the insurance carried by the person who caused the whole thing. Don't forget that you can make medical claims on the insurance you carry, so if paying for it is a problem, consider talking to your carrier.
Let me also add my happiness that you had God as your copilot.

Thank You To Everyone Here At Notary Rotary....
.....your kindness, your concern, and your well wishes mean more to me than you know. It has been a little over 24 hours since my car accident and the shock of it all is slowly starting to pass as the reality of it all is finally starting to set in. I realize that I have been running on pure adrenaline trying to get all the closings done that I had committed to, get the packages to Fed Ex and UPS, and get a rental car so I could go out and do the three closings for today I had already committed to. The closings are done, the packages are shipped, and the rental car is parked safely in the garage. The work at hand is done for the time being and it is time for me to just lay myself down and decompress......a little tlc, hot tea, and advil for me and my aching body. A friend of mine called me today and asked me how I was feeling....."I feel like I was hit by a truck.....oh yeh......I was".
As I read through all these wonderful posts so full of concern, well wishes, good advice, and of course a little humor and cheer, I realize that all of my dear friends here at Notary Rotary know what they are talking about. I am giving myself permission to take the rest of the weekend off and lay in bed and watch television and rest my aching muscles. I am not going to be so worried about my car anymore because that can be replaced......but I cannot. I will also be going to the doctor first thing Monday morning to make sure everything is okay.
So thank you again to everyone here at Notary Rotary.
Pegi

"I am giving myself permission to take the rest of the weekend off and lay in bed and watch television and rest my aching muscles. "
This is what I do on a regular basis ... and I wasn't even hit by a truck.
You are a real trooper, Pegi, and a first class notary, to say the least! Glad to hear you're seeing a doctor Monday. Have a shot of something good (you know what I mean) with that hot tea. Not too much though. Just in case. One of my signers recommended that for my new fall allergies. Sounded like wise advice to me.

wow, what a story Pegi! you are one lucky girl! glad to hear
you are okay but still going to be checked out by your doc. I imagine you have relived that experience a few times since it happened. I witnessed an a three car pile up the other day and still see and hear the crunching of metal and I wasn't even involved.
