Planning Suggestions
I planning an outreach/education event highlighting ID theft prevention. Besides media contact, flyers, etc., any ideas on how to promote Or how the event should be run? I have done vendor retail shows before for another business, but sales/goods is a different "animal."
It's free advertising and costs me nothing but a few hours' time (and maybe a smoked turkey for the drawing). FTC has great materials - all FREE.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Michelle

If it's an open to the public event, and you want to highlight your participation, I've found posting the information on the local media (newspaper, magazines, etc.) website calendars to be helpful. Also, letting my Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter connections know also helps.
Good luck.

I would recommend adding information on identity theft and freezing your credit as a possible action if a victim of identity theft. I suggest looking at "clarkhoward.com" to read about this subjects and as a referral site if he or she asks a question you don't feel qualified to answer.

Thanks for the tips and the referral site (hadn't heard of him before); it lead me to a LA Times writer and KTLA correspondent who'd had his identity stolen 3 times!
My home office is overrun by manuals, resources, books collected over the years from finance work (can't bear to part with my consumer info library). Funny thing, always seem to turn to web for info. now. Too accessible. Seems like there's no question that can't be answered online . . . which is what "scares" me about hosting such a conference:
Why would people want to attend if they are not ENGAGED? What PERSONAL touch is needed to captivate? Everybody's attention span (including mine) is on the wane due to flood of messages coming at us from every direction; so people want something Worthwhile. 15 years ago I had less mental "fog." So far, my main attractions are 2 videos.
