Quit Claim Deed Vesting wording had me
notarizing the former name and not the current name. I requested title change it to read current name fka old name which the did, and she will sign that way, BUT I feel I should cross out the fka former name part in my Notarial certificate since I am only verifying her by her current name and have no proof she was formally know by the other name. Before I present this change to the Deed to TC I would like to hear your comments.

If the FKA name has been prefilled in the notarial certificate, I would cross it out and only leave the name as shown on her current ID.
I wouldn't even notify the TC. They will see it when it is returned to them. The notarial certificate is your responsibility to complete, not theirs.

I was able to verify her maiden name also, so I included it in my notarial wording. TC preferred this way...

I've always wondered about this. No one ever seems to require any proof that Mrs. Current Name is the same person as Mrs. Maiden Name. Yes, you can complete the notary certificate with current name only (unless they have an old ID handy also to link the two), but what's to prevent some random person from saying "Oh yes, I used to be Mrs. Maiden Name" and signing away? Seems like title and/or the recorder should be checking this.
Wouldn't it be nice if people had "certificates of name change" like companies do?
