Ratings vs Comments..

I'm relatively new here. I've read so many instant remarks as to the "star rating" of the Signing Companies and I'm finding they are simply not to be believed ... As I've never worked for a SS, I've been reading the actual posted comments (when I first joined NotRot, I simply entered "Not Available For Loan Signings At This Time" on my simple but free profile (however, within 3 business days I was absolutely bombarded by nay-saints and couldn't bear it, therefore, I changed the ability for them to read my profile). I find, I just don't understand the system for the overall rating. The comments are so much more indicative of the true nature of the organization. BTW... the majority of them scare me lol. Thank goodness so many of you are as careful as you are, and I, for one, thank you for your postings of fore warning. This is not to state or infer that there are no good or great companies , SS as well as TC, out there, it's simply my opinion that they are in far less numbers than their counterparts.

Thank God and those stars. I don't know how you can be in business and not ever work for a SS, but go ahead and work for one once with 1-2 stars. I think you will change your mind. Not really sure what you are trying to say on your post, but I am thankful to those who rate the company's and unfortunately never got paid, and alert the rest of us. The "rate the companies" is a valuable feature for us notaries in the business.

I get the impression that dgd/CA is working directly for title co's. (S)he said that (s)he was new to this forum, not necessarily new to this business. I completely agree with his/her point that the comments are more meaningful than the ratings because you never know what kind of criteria were used - or who did the rating. One person's junk is another person's treasure (or however that goes...) I think we need to use the ratings with caution - high or low, although when the low ratings pile up enough, that's a pretty good indicator that something's wrong. Most, however, will likely fall somewhere in the middle.

Re: Janet.. Ratings vs Comments.. Yes

that's exactly what I'm saying. Furthermore, I am so grateful for Signing Central. Would I ever work for a Signing Company (?), of course. However; given my background, I am cautious by nature, and still grasping for knowledge. I also really wanted to quite simply state how pleased I am, to be a part of this forum and group.

Re: Ratings vs Comments.. Pleased

Actually, I'm saying that I couldn't be more pleased with the comments. As to how I've never managed to work for a SS... I just lucked out. I was in a head on collision (as a top producing Loan Officer and as I had performed on appx 94% of all my own loan document signings [assisted here with either EO or NSA for Notary]), when it was time to go back to work, I secured my commission as a Notary Public, and marketed myself directly to Title Companies and Escrow Officers That Knew Me in 3 counties, as well as every "large need" organization (that I could think of) in my own area for GNW. Actually, I wouldn't mind working for a SS, I'm just still a little skeptical, but yet continually grateful, with what the information and knowledge I find on Notary Rotary. :-)

Thank you, one and all...

Re: Ratings need to = Comments to be effective

I depend on the stars as I will only sign for 3+ and as my business grows I hope to push up the scale. If there is a discreption between stars and comments that is a problem.

I'm with you & have never relied on the star ratings.

It's the comments that give me a good indication of their reputation, as well as a time line.

any company that has 3 stars plus, I look at, and depending on the comments, I go from there.
