Signings for today
So today I have received two calls to do signings. We still have power right now, but I am not sure how long it will last. I had to politely decline them as I don't want to be on the roads during the hurricane. Anyone else getting calls for today? Granted one call was for a closing to be done on Wednesday, but I still did not want to commit since if (when) I loose power, it will not be back for a while. To everyone else in Sandy's path, be safe.

I was asked by one of my good clients if I could close a loan either Monday or Tuesday. I had to decline due to the hurricane warnings. Very windy here now with steady rain to become heavier and winds strengthening later today/tonight. I also don't know how much longer I will have power. I'm in NE PA.

I am on the other side of pa. The north east side, and it is starting to get nastier, and windier, and it is freezing. I had to decline as well. There is so much mud where I live, my car is actually starting to sink into the ground. That is going to be fun getting un stuck from the mud.

Got a call an hour ago for a signing @6pm. Said we are in a state of emergency and the town he wanted it done in has a driving ban. I am one of the few lucky ones still with power for now.

I turned one down too for today in a remote area - although my area seems to be on the fringe of the storm, it's just not worth it to go out in the rain and wind. I had one today at 9 AM which I completed, and one that was supposed to go at 5 PM but the borrowers called me and asked me to come early since husband did not end up having to go in to work today - I did that one at 10:45 AM. Both already dropped at FedEx and UPS, and showing that info in their tracking systems, but whether the packages go anywhere further today not sure. Not my problem, as I dropped docs and it's out of my hands.
I had another one for 3 PM that is two miles from my house but the borrower called me and said she wanted to reschedule due to the weather. Told her to call her loan officer and advise him, and I was happy not to have to go out again. I had not received docs on that one anyway.
Then one for tomorrow night just got rescheduled to Wed night, so I am off work until Wed. Fine with me and I will not accept any additional appointments for today or Tuesday.

Are any of the SS schedulers looking at TV or listening to the radio? The news about the storm is all over the place and the SS is still looking for notaries to do work in the affected area? I think the term irresponsible is appropriate under these conditions. Even the stock market is closed today and tomorrow!

I had one scheduled today at 3:00 PM in my town which I thought would be perfect-before the weather gets any worse. However, the title company called back and said the lender had closed early and would reschedule for tomorrow-not sure if that's happening!

I don't feel so bad now. I got another call from JMT a few minutes ago. She seemed totally suprised that I declined to take the signing and why. fortunatly I still have power, although the the wind and rain are picking up here (I am about 45 mintues west of Philly). Not looking forward to the loss of power as it would be days until it is back. Did have my wonderful husband set up the generator so all we have to do is start it up. Thoughts going to all in the path of Sandy.

I'm not working today. There's too many flooded roads
to take the chance. I turned down 4 calls for today. Hopefully, things will clear up a bit & be ok for Tues. & Wed. I have several confirmed for those two days, but talked to the borrowers that schedules will be adjusted according to weather conditions. This storm didn't turn out as bad as anyone expected, the it's the amt. of rain & the flooding it's causing that is the issue right now.

Stay safe, everyone. I'm just on the northern fringes, won't get as much as you folks south of here (everyone is south of here!), but my power goes out at the drop of a hat, so have turned down 3 signings for today today.

Yes everyone in the path of Sandy, be very safe. Please check in when able. I am going to get just a little bit compared to what most of you are going to get. And I am nervous. Again, please touch base with all of us to let us know yall are ok when this is done and over with. My children are not going to be going trick or treating probably for sure, even if it is all done and over with, it is going to be way to wet still i think. And as cold as it is now, it wouldn't surprise me if we got hit with the snow. Be safe all.

Both closings I had this evening were cancelled by the borrowers. I turned down subsequent requests as some bridges and most major roadways are closed / closing. Files that were due to close tomorrow have also been scrubbed. Borrowers are very understanding. On my end, the state of emergency declaration is all I need to hear to stay put : )
Everything in this part of NY shut down around midday. Banks, Post Offices and lots of merchants. Drizzling rain and intermittent wind gusts were the general landscape. Seems they're increasing with intensity as time wears on.
I thank Sandy in advance for letting her presence be known in the mildest way possible for one and all.
