Would love to know who the coward is

Last week we called someone to cover a signing somewhere in CA. We offered our standard fee of $100 an they said no thank you, which is fine. It does happen, but I would love to know who that damn coward was that gave us a 1-star rating because the refused our assignment.

That person never did a signing for us has no knowledge of who we are, what we do, that we guarantee payment in 21 days and how well respected we are within the notary signing agent community. Of course the vindictive person has their account set up so they can not be emailed.

It is not fair that one petty vindictive person can put a blemish on what was otherwise one of the highest ratings on this site for 2 years running.

COME FORWARD YOU COWARD AND IDENTIFY YOURSELF!

I've never worked for your company and after this post, I don't think you want to hire me...so here goes. Where did you get that puffing attitude within your company? Are other people making the statements first and you repeating good comments? What part of someone else having a vindictive attitude bothers you? How do you being the target instead of using other notaries as a target?

Please be sure to put me on the "do not call" list for your company.

You've got it.

We have signing agents with 20,000 signings under their belt that love working with us. We have former escrow officers with 20 years in the business that love working with us.

We can live very well without those signing agent with an attitude like yours.

20,000?

20,000 loan signings?

That means somebody who has been doing loans for 10 years will be doing an average of 5-6 a day, every day... 365 days a year without a break.

Even somebody with 20 years experience means they are 2-3 a day with a break for 20 years.

well, in my book a $100 is a low ball fee for a closing. We are the ones who are paying out of our pocket for toner, paper, laser printers, and gas and then travelling 20+ miles one way and then sit there sometimes while the borrower - who has not been informed about his loan, calls his L/O several times, and sometimes they don't close because the numbers weren't as quoted and then the person who hired us only wants to pay a print fee! If it weren't for signing agents, the borrowers would have to go to the title company/bank and then you and all other siging companies wouldn't have a job. I am a professional and expect to be paid a decent fee for what I do. And, by the way, I don't just handle closings, I have a lot of other GNW that I do every day.

in my area, (most companies offer 100-125). Unless you are nd then they offer 40... I wouldn't mind working with you for 100. It is the companies with sad ratings and fees of less than 100 I won't touch.
To be honest, I think only companies should be rated if you have personally worked with them, or if a fee of less than 100 is offered or possibly if the scheduler was rude to you on the phone. If 100 doesn't work for you, all you have to say is no thanks. Don't bash a highly rated company that actually offers 100 and pays... And no I have not personally worked for you. But I totally agree with what you said.

I am probably going to be sorry for this as a NR friend says I don't have a dog in this fight. But let this die a silent death. Or the great Kenny Rogers Know when to hold em Know when to fold em. For arguments sake, assuming everything you are saying is right. You need to let it go. You are magnifying something that would have been dead. Not everyone is going to love you. And not everyone is fair. Or Fair as you perceive Fair to be. You have just made as my very love but long dead aunt would have said "made an issue out of a tissue" And please don't ask me what that means, because I have not idea.

If it helps it wasn't me, Howard, I am in FL. But if it is any consolation somebody just charged a trip from LA to Mexico City on my Amex Card. And I am pissed off because they didn't even get me a ticket. Seriously, let it go. You brought attetion and a negative vibe to you for what? This too shall pass.

Very sensible Barbara.

Howard gets ruffled over things that most business owners with his status (good / 5 star) would shrug off...that's my view.

Had he never appeared here with the attitude, I'd be like, "Check out that PMN...they have a great track record."

He never has a good word to say about a notary unless they clap when he appears on the forum. That's just sad.

By comparison, over the nine years that I have known Tony Negrete, the number of times that has has publicly put down a notary can be counted on one hand and there have been very specific reasons for his frustrations. You will never read about Tony mouthing off about a notary's bad attitude and that they should go pump gas. Tony and I have disagreed, but there's no mistake that the guy doesn't come here with his nose pinched like there is a stench. When Howard gets here, he seems to have trouble breathing among the cess pool that we (notaries) are.

Now, why on earth would he behave like that? He's a successful businessman. Where I come from, those who are successful have a much different behavior pattern. There's the puzzle for me.

Pro Mobile Notary has always been good to me. One time an escrow officer wanted me to do fax back and Pro Mobile Notary explained to them that needed to be disclosed in advance and there was an additional fee for the service. Pro mobile notary does look out for our best interest. As a business owner I see nothing wrong with protecting your business, but lets not forget we are professionals and need to maintain our professionalism at all times.

I will take every signing I can from Pro Mobile Notary.

I too could use less dyspeptic fulmination from Howard. However, I understand that he, too, sometimes does closings, which makes him an NSA. Beyond that, though, I welcome the occasional post from a signing service. If an SS is willing to risk the wrath of the forum by ill-chosen remarks, I'm willing to tolerate that in exchange for the occasional beneficial insight from the other side of the blanket.

Please forgive me as a "lurker" of this forum for not speaking out more often on various subjects. However, I must respond to Howard's posting with regard to what he feels is an unfair rating from a disgruntled potential signing agent.

I have known Howard for the last two years or so. My relationship with him has been solely based on business, even though we live in the same approximate area of the San Francisco Bay. I have never had the opportunity to actually meet Howard. But, I have talked with him on numerous occasions with regard to notary assignments.

Howard is a true professional. He has always done as he said he would do, paid for signings that I have completed on time, and truly lives by his word. I'm thankful for the business relationship that we share and wish to God that I had a couple more signing companies with whom to work that were as honest and approachable as is Howard.

I am rather surprised by some of the postings that I am reading. Especially those that feel the need to cut him off at the knees for speaking his mind. I just don't understand that sort of response. We all have signing companies at whom we can certainly throw stones. I am currently at odds with a signing company to whom I has issued an ultimatum: pay up or meet up with my little friend (lawyer). Little strong mind you but you get the idea...as they did. I, for one, am sick and tired of working for peanuts, (I have finally and decisively decided to end that agony by refusing lowball assignments) and then having to wait extraordinarily long time periods for payment.

HOWARD HAS NEVER DONE THAT TO ME - NEVER, EVER!

I believe that he has an impeccable reputation in this industry and has the highest regard for the people he works with and hires to do signings for his organization. I cannot fault him for expecting the same in return.

There are several people who have expressed the sentiment that they do not want to have anything to do with Pro Mobile Notary. To each his own, as they say. I, for one, relish the opportunity to take any and all segments that Howard is gracious enough to send my way. His fees are reasonable, his payment record is outstanding and I really appreciate and respect that.

To those others who feel otherwise, I just don't think you know Howard well enough nor appreciate the hard earned kudos that his work ethic and professional reputation merits. Perhaps there are cultural or geographic biases that are not recognized or appreciated here.

For instance, Southerners can have a hard time with the aggressive nature of Easterners. Washingtonians often misperceive the words and actions of those folks in the Midwest. And most everyone seems to think that California is just a mystery unto itself. I don't really know where Howard's rootedness is although I have always suspected that he was from the East Coast - perhaps New York or Boston.

My suspicion is that some of the misguided comments about Howard's demeanor are more than likely consequences of these misperceptions. It's very easy to misinterpret the sentiments of people outside of our own worldview. So, my suggestion to everyone is LIGHTEN UP! Please!

For my two cents, I ask you, Howard, to keep up the good fight, sound your voice when necessary in any way that you feel appropriate and don't let those disgruntled fools get the best of you. You're a good man and I deeply respect you as an individual.
