Ya never know ...
Had a purchase signing recently. Realtor was there. This usually means there will be continuous chatter about what I have come to call the "Three C's": curtains, countertops and carpets. Sure nuff, Little Miss Barbie-doll Realtor and Mrs. Borrower were soon knee deep in redecorating updates. But like a snowplow in a winter storm, I have learned to keep on truckin' because such rudeness knows no limits. But wiat, there's more! All of a sudden a fourth "C" was introduced, accompanied by much squealing. Somewhere between the TIL and First Payment Letter, Mrs. Borrower opened her laptop and showed a picture of the chandelier she had just bought. Little Miss Chatty Realtor began jumping up and down, gasping that she had the exact chandelier! Only hers was bigger, came in two sections and took 80 lights, of which had to be individually screwed in, but it was oh so fabulous and on and on and on. Meanwhile, I plowed forward.
Finally, I get to the Occ. Aff and demanded a moment of silence while I gave the oath. To which Little Miss Empty Headed Realtor sneered: "Oh, getting official, are we?" To which I responded, well, suffice it to say I gave her a brief earful about California Code and related penalties.
At which time Mr. Borrower, who was also being totally ignored and hadn't uttered a word the entire signing, said: "She's right, I'm a notary, too, and if she hadn't given the oath I would have wanted to know why!" Total silence. Score one for the good guys.

My mom has a saying, "It's the quiet ones you have to watch." Of course, this NEVER applied to HER child (:
I find it interesting that Mr. BO held back discussing his "credentials;" and I find that it's good to just sit back sometimes and observe how people's bias's really come to light when they are dealing with you. Some really think you're STUPID just because you're young, or old, or a certain color/sex, or blue collar, no degree, etc. I know we are all guilty of this at one time or another . . .
(And I agree: "fellow Professionals" should not degrade each other in a public forum. It looks BAD.)
