How many notaries turn signing back when docs are late?

If it will make me late for another appt. I will cancel otherwise I keep in contact with the borrower and just give them updates on the progress of the docs.

I will usually turn the job back if documents haven't shown up by the time of the appointment, because at that point things are running two or more hours late and in most cases the title company is closed or close to it. In some cases, I miraculously get the documents 5 minutes later, but if not, I don't have to spend more time checking for documents that most of the time will not actually arrive anyway.

I often tell them that they can call me when the documents are ready and if I am still available, I will do it, but no promises. Then I go about my business.

This biz is what it is. When it comes to late docs

everyone has to do what their schedules allow for & how much travel is involved.

If the docs are late and the company won't pay the late fee - it's canceled.

If the docs are late and I can't reschedule (I usually can't) - it's canceled.

I rarely turn one back, though... most of the time, the companies I deal with know that I'm a stickler and they get their docs to me in plenty of time so there aren't any issues.

All Depends on the day and how busy

I do leave wiggle room in even if busy (about hour) unless it is EOM and I let them know documents 2 hours prior to appointment is strictly followed.

I lose business because of it, but have less headaches on busy days. You will know what companies tend to run late.

If I am busy, I give them until the cut off time, and then try put them to the end of my day. If that doesn't work for them, or title (if you have to make the drop)I have to turn it down. I do not like making other's late or myself running late and getting stressed. Not worth the aggravation. Usually those closings have "issues" or a ton of fax backs as well for some reason....that's why they are late to begin with.
