Crazy things Ive seen
Since we were talking about RESPA signings. I was just reminded of one I did last month where it was 9am. I get there and ring the doorbell and no one answers. So I call BO and he said he was outside in the back yard doing work. So he comes to the door in tattered boxer shorts, flipflops and a bare hairy chest that is completely sweaty. He didnt want to put a shirt on. So I enter into his home to find it dark, dirty and smelly. He took to the kitchen and had to clean off a chair. It was so filthy with dust. I had to ask for a napkin(s) cuz I didnt want to sit down on it. So I cleaned off the whole chair BUT sat only on the edge of it. As he went to look for his documents he was supposed to have, I took stock of the environment I was in. There was two dog bowls on the floor. Dog food all over the floor, over 10 bags of McDonalds bags and trash, boxes of pop tarts, paper everywhere. the table we sat at was filled with old Mickey D's bags, Burger King and Wendy bags, wrappers of rice krispy treats. While he was signing the phone rang. He couldnt find the phone underneath all that trash on his table.
When I left, I felt so filthy. I went home and showered. I was itching all day. I think I burned the clothes I wore there. Oh and to add, the application ended up getting wet because of the liquid on the table. UGH!!!

ewwww...mystery substances on the table. Gross!!
I always put my loan docs in legal file folders (one for my set, one for theirs). When the conditions (filth) warrants, I take the folder off their copy, and put it down in front of them to sign on under the guise of "let's not scratch your table--we'll just use this folder in case your signatures press through the page." An opened legal file folder gives lots of grace for signing docs and protections for your page.
It's saved me lots of sticky messes.
