Don't ya luv the signers ...
... who right off impatiently announce that they've refi'd at least five times before and know the drill backward and forward, and tell you in so many words to just get on with things post haste so they can get this loan signing done while setting some sort of land-speed record, and then proceed to balk at even the simplest doc and ask what it's for and what it's about even after you've at least given them the "this occupancy affidavit says you live here intro" ... ? Sigh. LOL
(BTW was that the longest runon sentence ever ....?)

Isn't it amazing some of the wacky things we see and sometimes I think I'm the only one who can run into these situations. Last week I did a reverse mortgage that had already been postponed 3 times in that the borrower's requested all the docs to review before the closing. Three different times they had to be redone for whatever reasons he had. The fourth time I get there and he, his parents and the loan officer are there. He started immediately with one of those finger pointing jobs letting me know he was going to review everything. He wanted me to give him all the docs to look at and I told him he would get one at a time. After 2 1/2 hours of nit picking and telephone calls as well as letting everyone at the table as well as those he spoke with on the phone know he trusted no one, I thought it was over. I gave him the borrower package, my card and he then tells me, "how do I know everything here is an exact duplicate of the original papers?". He actually wanted to at least put them side by side to compare thickness. Just told him couldnt do and left. What I said to myself in the car would not help me get into heaven.

@Goldengirl - You gotta love it
I think you speak for us all. You never know what you are going to hear. I was told my a borrower the other night that the last time he refinanced (or purchased, not sure) he crossed out part of mortgage which allowed lender to sell his mortgage. He said they did and he should have sued them. I am just surprised no one saw it and it got recorded. I just said Interesting. I knew I was in for a ride and I wasn't wrong. He wanted a copy of all signed docs. I said I would let TC know. Oboy! LOL

Re: @Goldengirl - You gotta love it
I know what you mean - every so often you get a borrower that "wants a copy of all the signed documents." I maintain my serious look and say "Of course - here," as I hand him the monstrous BofA loan package. He looks at me and says "Why are you giving me these?" I tell him "So you can copy them." That usually stops most of them in their tracks - however, I did have one lady at her office say "Okay, I'll be back in a minute," and she went to her Canon copier and reproduced the entire package. Then I gave her the Borrower Copy, saying "I'm still required to give these to you," which she also graciously absorbed and thanked me profusely. It takes all kinds.

Copy of all the signed documents
I love that response; I don't think I could have thought of "off the cuff" . . . and if I ever run into that scenario, I'll use. Thanks, notary "veterans" for great tips of the trade (:

I so love NOT/ROT for so many reasons (some of these posts reminded me why) - we can vent, disagree, teach, learn, bond, and mostly LAUGH OUT LOUD!!! It is so much cheaper than therapy!!! :O)

I recently had one where the wife was a non-borrowing owner and she was extremely rude to me from the get-go. She was all preturbed about the word "borrower" being typed under some of her signature lines, since she wasn't a borrower. I won't go into all the other details but after I gave her a blue pen to use and she signed the first two docs, she secretly changed to her own black pen! When I caught it on her first black signature, she forcefully said she always uses black and she was "not going to be dictated to as to what pen color to use." I wasn't going to fight with her over pen color. My notary certs were already pre-filled in blue, her husband didn't have a problem using blue, and she used black. Told TC about it afterward. She was so incredibly rude to me throughout the signing appointment and I was trying to kill her with kindness. The husband just sat there and acted like all was normal. Yikes.
