Equifax settlement services

Email came today:          In order to better serve our vendor network, Equifax is requesting the documents listed below. These documents will bring your profile to full compliance with the Equifax system; missing information can result in non-use of your company, or could prevent future assignments. Equifax Settlement Services is also launching a Safe Close Profile initiative, to protect both the borrower and the closing agent, in which a photo of the notary along with a brief work history will be sent to the borrowers pre-closing.

I get calls about one daily on either doing a signing or I need to purchase a BGC in order to stay in network. I have told the caller I don't work for them, don't plan to and please remove me.

Same was done in email. Ugh!!! Now I'm sending to spam but it seems done emails make it to my inbox. Boooo

I wish google would make a blocked optioning gmail that rejects emails from certain ppl, like they do with google voice.

I have mixed emotions about this. While I haven't worked with Equifax in some time, other posts in NotRot have spoken about them recently. Seems they are becoming more and more stringent on what they want from the notary, but the pay rate doesn't go up.

My second emotion is that this might not be a bad idea, particularly for those who have had the borrowers requesting their driver license, etc. However, is Equifax going to require the borrower provide the notary with pictures of the borrower(s)? I mean, if we're protecting the borrower by providing our photo, shouldn't the notary have an idea what the borrower looks like before the closing?

Nobody asked, but...

seems to me that providing a photo of the person coming to your door with a large package of highly sensitive documents would make me wonder--what's wrong with this scenario?

Why do they have to send me a photo? Do the notaries they hire pass the docs on to criminals as a way to get into my home? Maybe a lot of notaries get mugged by criminals so they can get the docs to 'deliver'. I know that's reaching, but seems that hiring entity sets up this type of pondering by providing a photo--'for security purposes'. I need security to sign papers??? Wow...maybe I'll just go to my local bank.

Re: Nobody asked, but...

This is ridiculous. In IL you CANNOT get commissioned if you have any felonies and I'm sure most states are like this. It's US who should have a BGC done on borrowers for any assault, sexual or criminal activities before WE enter their home. I had a lady go balistic and throw the docs at me, then I couldn't get out of her home due to she had us deadbolted in with 3 locks and she had the keys. Was just about to hit 911 on my phone when she came out and unlocked them. I left everything there except my briefcase. Didn't bother to pick anything up. Its US that needs to worry sometimes. This is rare, I realize, but it does and can happen.

One other thought, until this industry in consistent in its rules and regulations for us across the board, I have a hard time from complying with these requests. One company wants this, another wants that is BS IMO.
