Equity Settlement Services Background Check Costs $37.86
ESS just got back to me with the cost of their background check, mandated by their legal eagle department.
So, that's one way to drum up business, Lexis Nexis. But at least it's not XYZ's wallet.

Hmmmm. I thought it's been discussed here before that
it's not really legal to require a bcg through a particular co., especially if there's a profit motive for the co. asking for it. That LexisNexis thing is a joke. A few years back I did the NNA certification/bcg, and was then involved with the suit brought against LexisNexis. They had violated some law (sorry, can't even remember what) but I got $1,000 out of the settlement. Waaahooo! I've done a bgc now through NR, even though I haven't been asked for one in a long time.

I've done one signing for them in the last year. After hearing this is their policy to do more signings I won't be getting their bgc. I'm the only notary for 40 miles so will see how desperately they need one.

I work for them and they accepted mine. Unless next closing they will tell me to get their's, don't know.
