FASS

After seeing some of the comments on here about the FASS Webinar and taking the final test. I was wondering why I didn't get the email from them and why they had never called. I do have enough companys that pay my miniunum and I have stayed rather busy. But I was curious, so emailed them this morning.

This was their email response after they had ask several questions and sent some background items:

Our base fee is $50 + $25 if email/print, distance can be negotiated prior to accepting the order, and must be reasonable price. Please advise if you agree with our fees?

Is this what you are working for when you accept an assignment from them. I am just curious if this is the going rate with FASS or do you get more per assignment that this?

I never take less than $12x.xx for any of their closings. They only call me when they can't get anyone cheaper and they already know what my base $ is going to be.

They stoped calling me a year ago, and I don't recall that we ever had any problems over fees.

I am in the same mode as Jenny/TX. I stated my minimum fee to FASS from the get-go ($!00). This includes E-docs and signings in what I call "my back yard." If I have to drive 30 minutes out (each way) I add on $25; if I drive an hour (each way) I add on $50. They usually accept my asking fee.

I won't work for them anymore for any price because I can't take their handholding. Drives me crazy and really interrupts me. Send me the order and let me do my job. It does not take 4 phone calls before, during and after.

$50 barely covers gas. what about your time? n/m

@Linda~ I've never experienced that with FASS - not sure what happened to cause that. I get a call, the e-mail confirmation, then I e-mail my completion from their site. EZ.

Hi Donna~I charge $150 for outlying areas that I know I can get to in an hour or less. It is fair for me at this time. FASS provides me the bulk of my work and what I feel is a profitable income on a part-time basis. I have been turned down a few times for asking the $150 and that is fine with me. I'm not going to shear any off of it to satisfy the SS.

Co-signing With Karla

I do not experience any hand-holding with FASS. The most they ever do with me (and seldom at that) is maybe a call to see whether a signing was completed and for a tracking number. And that may occur if it is a daytime closing that is a taking or took a little longer than expected. They are certainly not a ND or Global.

As far as fees, FASS IS NEGOTIABLE! They will DEFINITELY pay for extra travel distance.

I'm glad they emailed you back...I have been trying to get them to respond to emails for over a week and a half. I resorted to calling, being left on hold for 45 minutes, then dumped into a voice mail...which I still have not gotten a reply to. I have several different issues in the past few weeks, one of which was where WAS the code was to take the test...(finally did get that on Thursday, but still no direct response from them on my other issues) IMO that is not a very good way to take care of your "white glove" notaries.

I was, however, asked to do a closing 80 miles away from my home for 100.00 Friday (which is my base fee). I told them no, my fee for that distance would be double. The scheduler then said, "well how about 125.00"? REALLY??? Gas is expensive! NO! I was given the typical, "well we will have to get that approved"...which really means, "we will need to see if we can get someone else to go do it for less"...I said fine. Two hours later I get the call that says, "we have gotten your fee approved!" I took pleasure in saying, "sorry, I have already filled that spot with two other closings" So....long story short, you can negotiate your fee. Kinda.
