Filling in the blanks

After many years of having a "round" notary seal - I broke down and ordered a new "rectangle" stamp from this very site. (AWESOME service - three days from order to in my hand!)

So, for many years - I filled in the blanks for commission expiration and commission number (or wrote it in if no blank provided). Of course, my new stamp has all of that information contained in a nice little box. Question - do you still fill in the blanks provided - or just stamp and let that suffice?

I fill them in. Honestly don't know if I have to, but I choose to.

Not sure why but I still fill in the blanks with the same info as on my stamp

Re: Still fill in the blanks. It's my certificate & I complete

Me, too, tho it seems totally needless to do so. I read on NR that some lender/TC (?) rejected some docs cos the notary didn't fill in those blanks, even though all the information they wanted was included in the seal staring them right in the face! I don't ever need that aggravation, so that's why I write in everything they want. Sigh.

Still fill them in. Title companies hate missing and blank lines, and could jeopardize them using you again.

In VA, we cannot have an incomplete notarial cert

so I fill in all blanks on the certificate, even if the info is also on my stamp.

Re: In VA, we cannot have an incomplete notarial cert

As an FYI - the only blanks I referenced in my OP were Commission number and expiration - and if that information is provided in some manner - it would not be incomplete. It is my intention to fill in the blanks - just simply asking what others do.

I fill in the blanks even though my stamp has that info on it. Some stamps may not so they're asking just in case. At least that's my take on it. : )

Re: In VA, we cannot have an incomplete notarial cert

I was told by the SOS in Florida that the reason for printing your name and commission number is because the stamps can be smeared - and if that happens, at least the information is still on the page.
