How much would you charge to fax back 140 pages?

I accepted a job for tomorrow afternoon. I just looked and it said I had to fax back all 140 pages.

The fax back instructions were with the docs, not on the confirmation or in the original conversation. It is at 3 PM. Not sure if I could get it out in time without faxing. Do you think $75 is too much?

$75 isn't too much but strongly doubt you'll get it.

Maybe $50

I ask you...how much is HASSLE worth ? It's worth plenty in my life.

IMHO this thing is a dogfish---THROW IT BACK

Had the same thing happen to me on Sat..I was so darn mad..I emailed hiring party. She said she didnt know about that . Gave me the go ahead to ship back instead. But Im rural there isn't too many options for dropping at UPS..It was either fax or drive 25 min each way to make it for Sat. So I faxed at least that way there wasnt the added expense of the gas..

I think $75.00 is a little too much..$30.00- 50.00 range sounds reasonable to me.

Just say no

Zippo. Nothing. I'd tell hiring party I don't do faxbacks, which I don't. Usually I couch it in terms such as: "IOh, I'm sorry,I'm not able to fax back." Or, "I'm not set up to fax back." If they press, I tell them to give me a CC number and I'll take it to Fed Ex. That, of course, will never happen. Not if they actually have to pay for it!

No amount of $$ can get me to start faxing. (Never been a problem either ... as far as I know.)

UPS charge $1 per page. Or Fedec charges $1.50 pe page at least in my area.

So I would tell them the going rate that UPS/FEDEX charges and if they dont want to pay it then they are going to have to wait till it arrives.

Is this an investment property? Maybe fax back ONLY critical docs for $25-30....IDK

You to customer: How much more are you willing to pay me for this extra service? If response is inadequate: How soon do you need this service? Translation: Pay me or wait. The more you pay, the less you wait.

They said they would be happy to cover any additional costs. I see that there is a FedEx office less than 2 miles away that has a pickup time of 5:45 PM. I will probably do that. Or I will charge $50 for fax backs as they will take a couple of hours.

First time on but I love to read wants going on, signing agent for over ten years when I get the occasional faxback (scans for me) up to thirty pages is fine. But the time factor says double your fee for the full package or have them get someone else.
It is equal to two closings!

I agree. The bigger picture is it is same day funding/closing. I would say if the LO is so anxious that the loan close, he should be happy to pay for the scope of work. Yep, like two closings. You're making it happen.

I bought a Fujitsu scanner, saves my life. Scans up to 50 pages no worry, in a heart beat. So three passes would do it in a few minutes, say 15.

Monthend is too frenetic for me to do many faxbacks. Depends on workload.

I agree. I just added an Epson scanner to my

equiqment. So much faster than faxing.
On this one though, I wouldn't have been willing to faxback 140 pgs. at any price.
That sounds like a QC issue to me, and not worth the time. I think I would have doubled my fee.

Re: I agree. I just added an Epson scanner to my

I had a new client (mortgage company) ask me to fax back or scan email the whole package (150 pages) last week, after the fact. They were paying me well already, but I told the loan officer that needs to be stipulated up front so I can allow the time and charge accordingly. He was very understanding and said that he usually does and that since he would be receiving the package the next day, it was okay not to. I told him I just didn't have the time. It was a signing from hell in the first place (2.5 hrs) and borrowers on the phone to loan officer at least five times, questioning even the closing instructions.

Every now and again, I get one of these...signings from hell, borrowers so hesitant, checking, double checking...People just don't trust banks any more.

Logistics in workload at monthend can prohibit the expenditure of time it takes to fax back, running back and forth like a gerbil ... doesn't quite pay enuf.

Re: What kind do you have?

I have a photosmart 7510 that I love -- unless I have to scan more than a few pages. If I leave the resolution at 300 on 20-40 pages of scanning, the end result is too large a file and the recipient can receive it. If I lower the resolution to 75 as was suggested to me by the SS, the documents aren't sharp enough to read. Does anyone else have this problem? I love how quickly this machine scans versus the time to fax. (It's wireless and I havent hooked it up to a phone line to use as a fax machine.)

what email program are you using to scan and email back 140 pages. Renee turned me on to adobe send now in which you can send large scanned files free, however, a few title cos. came back to me and said their co. would not let them open that program. my 2 email accounts only let me email very small files so i revert to paying for maxemail. thanks

I love LSI but they are weird sometimes as I emailed them stuff in early summer and she said it made her system crash everytime so I have to maxemail. then i send fax backs via the adobe send now and they called and said their system would not let them open it. it was the n ca office. another small law firm said they could not open it. as weird as it seems this is my biggest issue, emailing more than a few pages for free. just doesn't seem right.

I scan and email as an attachment to LSI, but they require that you send it through their secure email system - same way you receive the docs.

do you have pretty red hair, that's what i picture. so when we reply w/i that secure site i assume you can attach a file. sorry so untechie and i'm really not. you think they would tell me that. thanks much

Re: copper

Yup I have red hair! Yes you can attach a file to the email you send via the secure LSI email. They don't tell you - I had to ask. I email the faxbacks to whoemever sends me the docs. I always tell them I will be emailing via their secure email instead of faxing.

I did have a problem with my faxbacks being too big of a file to attach and I had to split them into multiple files (time consuming), but then I read a post here on NotRot that you can reduce the file size of your scan by NOT scanning the documents as OCR (makes the document "searchable" which was indeed how had my scanner set up) - that solved my problem and reduced the file size significantly.

Re: copper

Also be sure to request an additional fee for the faxbacks. LSI will pay a whopping $10 additional fee for faxbacks - but you have to ask for it on your closing confirmation. And if the fee verification does not come back with it on there, you must contact vendor management and get it corrected ASAP.

Re: What kind do you have?

I have a Bulletscan F-200, it has an autofeed on top holds 50 pages, or you can sheet scan on the flatbed. I use a g-mail account and never have a problem sending the packages or the TC's receiving them. The largest one has been 178 pages, took 6 minutes to scan and attach to email. I have the scanner set on legal, b&w document, pdf file at 200dpi. An 86 page scan is about 1.56MB.
