I know we hear about Altisource frequently, but

I got a call from them last night propositioning me to join their data base.

I was almost certain I remember them to be lowballers so I let him rattle off his spiel and then asked, sounds great, but what is your fee? He said $65. I laughed and politely said, plus a $35 print fee, right? He said, oh no, that includes edoc's. Again, I laughed (knowing what he was going to say) and said, I am so sorry, but that's about 1/2 of what my fee is.

I told him I know it's not you, but really, they can pay me now, or they can pay me later to fix the mistakes of $65 notaries. Either way they're going to have to pay. Pay right the first time and they won't have to waste money.

He humbly agreed.

I humbly thanked him for calling. I'm sure the poor guy was used to being abused and was relieved to hear I didn't tear into him...lol...you know I wanted to....lol

I got an email from them, too, about "updating" in the

database. At those fees, I'm not going to waste my time. IMO these lowball cos. are going to take a hit by hiring "discount" notaries, and hopefully will see the value of hiring notaries that are worth more than they charge. ;-)

It ain't ever gonna change becuz

Sadly they are still getting people to do their signings at those low fees. And as long as that keeps happening.... well you know what that means... They stay in business. These are mostly (probably all) REO closings. They are a mess anyhow. So nobody cares if it a good experience for anyone. They just keep happening. There is your answer.
