It will be nuts on Monday
The call volume for my area is nuts for EOM, companies have been scheduling stuff for Monday on Wednesday of this week. I can only imagine what the actual day will be like when they try to push the last minute stuff.
Everyone have a good EOM, finishing my slice of pizza and off again till 10pm.

Getting lots of reports of "dropping the ball"--notaries &
schedulers. Reports of notaries "no show", and I've had schedulers call me to beg a time & then not send a confirmation. I don't think anyone's prepared for the volume. I turned away at least 10 last minute calls today. It will make other notaries in my area happy, I hope. I'm already booked for as many as I'm going to take for Monday & Tuesday. There won't be any room for last minute calls those days, either. Getting docs will be another story, I'm sure. ;-) LOL

Re: Last minute calls....
They make me nervous. Like pandora's box. Half the time I've taken them, I was sure they got turned back or put at last minute for a reason.

Re: Last minute calls and FEES....and dropped balls!
I picked up someone's dropped ball...notary no show...today, filling my afternoon/evening schedule.
I'm seriously considering charging extra for last minute EOM closings, as these are almost always a PITA. Does anyone else do that regularly?
Really, don't the loan officers/processors and closers know when EOM is, just like we do? If they can't get their acts together before the last minute of EOM, then the closing is probably going to be a PITA...late docs, wrong numbers, incorrect names, and the list goes on, using up extra time, effort and energy from us; therefore, I'm thinking maybe we should charge them extra for it!

Re: Last minute calls and FEES....and dropped balls!
I think they have tunnel vision - they can only see the docs out of their hands, released to a notary that is sitting in wait just to do THIER closing and only THIER closing that particular day.
I don't understand how a notary can accept a signing and then not show? What's with that? Why would the SS ever use them again if they even did it just once?
It certainly would be nice to be able to charge more for those two hour call outs, especially in the evening. Like you Mary, I, too, have contemplated it.

That's the way it was during the craziness a few years
ago. They were desperate to get loans signed, and would pay extra for the accommodation. I'm not sure that some of these "notary dropped the ball" issues are not just a way to get us to take a last minute "emergency" signing. You can always ask for more money--whether you get it or not is another thing.

Re: Last minute calls and FEES....and dropped balls!
I had one today that wanted me to lower my fee for a closing that was 3 hrs from the time they called. I said no. They didn't even have docs and ended up wanting me to wait 2-3 hrs later. I got my weekend fee for a rescheduled Monday apt.

I am booked through Wednesday of next week...(not booked solid) but I got a nice stack of appointment. I love EOM because it makes my check fatter.

I worked 12 hours on Friday - barely had time to eat. I received several desperate calls trying to schedule for same day. Sorry, I'm already booked and have no openings. Early bird gets the worm.
