Just have to post this!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a closing 8/22 for a four star company listed on this site. Today I inquired as to why I had not received payment?

They told me they paid me on 9/5 and the check was cashed.

I asked for a copy of the cancelled check. It was made out to a person listed on this site for Weed, Ca. 96094 (now that is 300+ miles north of my location). The check also had the client’s NAME and Location printed on it.

They cashed my check knowing they didn’t do the job. How S T U P I D!

Hope you read this post and FWIW, They’re coming after your *%#&

I hope you are going after them.

Their mistake, they must pay you, go after the people they wrongly paid and eat it if they cannot get the funds back from Weed. The name of the town might be a hint at why they cashed it.

Seriously, one of my favorite natural hot springs in in Weed, CA. It is an old funky place called Stewart's Mineral Springs complete with a sweat lodge and an Indian chief on the property.

Hi James, long time no see! I once rec'd a check belonging to another SA, I couldn't find the SA here BUT did notify the company they had paid me in error. I have to admit it took me awhile to convince them I wasn't their contractor but it all worked out in the end. Shame shame on the SA who cashed the check in error (maybe they were overcome with business?)

"They cashed my check knowing they didn't do the job. How S T U P I D!"

Actually, they cashed their check because it was made out to them. But.....knowing they didn't do the job and cashing the check anyway was dishonest. I would be calling the Weed, California notary asking for my money. I wouldn't wait for the title company to square it away....but that's just me.

Re: Weed, Ca.

I have been to Weed! It is near Mt Shasta and has great views that encourage one to sit back and partake of the cities namesake product. It would be understandable for them to cash all errant checks sent to themSmile

another possibility because it happening to me....

I received a check that I was expecting from a company I often work for. I actually recognize the borrower names but not the address so figured it was probably one I did at a different location. In any event, I was on the way to the bank so I deposited. when I got back to balance out deposits, I didn't find an invoice for the name so contacted hiring company to inquire. I explained I was expecting check in the amount received but with different name. no response. then I get another check for the right borrowers! I have sent numerous emails with no response and thought by now someone would be hollering for their funds and maybe they would finally get around to contacting me. evidently not.

Guess its time to resend that email. BTW this was a Eugene signing and nothing to do with weed!

I've had it happen, too. There was a notary with my same

name in FL. One ss sent her my check by mistake & she cashed it too. On the other side of that, I've received cks. that weren't for me, and I called the hiring party immediately. I wouldn't have thought about cashing the check. Life is full of tests. ;-)

I thought that just happened to little ole me. Several years ago, Elite Signing Services in Illinois sent my payment to another Cheryl Elliott in San Diego. She also cashed the check.

I called her up and asked her why she didn't just return the check...it was a very lame answer. She moved to HI for a Navy Duty Station. Good thing I called her when I did, I certainly couldn't get the ELITE people to pay me, they insistered they already paid me.

DUH...of course Elite had no integrity...finally they sent me a check, a whole year later after my haranging them. The idiot is out of business.

So, what do you think of the intregity of some of our fellow notaries who cash checks for signings they did not perform?

I logged received checks in my journal so I don't make a mistake. I returned two checks, because of that already.

Is this the guy with just his first name (no last) in his Profile? Who does he think he is? Elvis? Cher? Who'd hire a notary with no last name?

WOW! But I don't always check my check for the borrower info before I cash it, so I too am guilty. Some of my vendors are now only putting an ID # on the check for the borrower and not the name of the borrower. I typically cash any and every check sent to me, and do my reconciling at the end of the month.
