My first turn down - and two jobs too

New, wanting business, said they would meet my fee for two jobs. But, SC on NR rated them a 1 1/2 star. So I told them why I would not do it unless they prepaid through PayPal. They said no to that as expected, so I hate to turn away work but I feel like I dodged a major slow/no pay problem. Thanks SC.

Good for you for sticking to your guns.

I know the feeling of wanting work, but honestly, I wouldn't even offer to take the job if they paid upfront. It's just keeping the bottom-dwellers in business longer. My personal policy is to work only with 4 stars and above because I have so little free time to chase my pay and put up with the crap. Does it restrict my signings? Yes. But that's okay, because I'm worth the rate I ask for, and to be paid in a timely fashion. Stick to your guns. Establish your own policies. The work will come.

Nice side note, by turning down the 1 1/2 star I left space open which was just filled by 4 1/2 stars. It feels good and again thats to all of you and SC.
