Notary Rotary saved me, thanks

I recieved a call for a signing tomorrow ( Saturday ) from nationwidenotaryink. I originally accepted the signing. Then I looked them up on notary rotary. At first I couldn't find them then I typed in the phone # ( who called me ) and they came up. 1 1/2 stars, a history of non payment to their notaries, so I gave the assignment back to them and told them why. I had already confirment the appointment so I had to call the borrower back and tell them I wouldn't do the signing and why.

The moral of the story is: if at first you can't find a company, type in their phone #. You may be able to find them that way.

Good call, Buddy. I did a signing for them once, took 4 months to get paid.

I don't think I would have called the borrowers, though. I'm sure the first thing they did after talking to you was call the LO wanting to know what's going on. NOT a good call, IMO.

If I've already confirmed with the borrowers I will

call them if it turns out I'm not doing the signing for whatever reason - but I just tell them something came up and their closing is going to be reassigned to another notary - I don't tell them why...that's the only part I disagree with...I wouldn't have told them why.

However, I also don't confirm with borrower until I'm sure I want to work with the company, all terms are met and I get confirmation. I wouldn't confirm before checking out the company.

Re: If I've already confirmed with the borrowers I will

I agree, Linda.

There might be one good thing that may come out of a BO calling the LO after receiving such a call, if they did. The LO, or his manager, might be questioning the TC about using such a company (a non/slow paying company) to book their signings.

I still disagree with telling the BO why the signing would be reassigned in a situation such as this, but what a happy accident it would be if the TC got an earful from the lender about using such SS companies and the TC or Lender rethought their association with such companies as a result.

Your loss, actually. Notary Ink is now owned & operated by

someone else (Tammy). She's great to work with & pays promptly.

I would have called the borrower's since you already confirmed, but I would not have said why. I would have said something came up, but not bad mouthed the company.
