SO ANY LUCK GETTING PAID FOR CANCELLED APPOINTMENTS?

I had a closing for 5:15PM, turned down two other closings, and the docs never came and the closing for 5:15 was finally cancelled at 9PM. Does anyone have luck getting paid for these?
Thanks, Carol

Those checks are issued only once a year, and are delivered by the Easter Bunny. Be sure to keep tabs, so you won't be shorted.

LOL, Hugh. I thought maybe she could pick up that check

at the Magic Kingdom in Disney World. ;-) LOL

only if I printed. If no printing was done yet, good luck. I never get paid.

I hope you didn't sit around waiting for docs AFTER the scheduled appt time of 5:15pm.

If I get a call for a signing for 5pm and docs aren't ready at least 2 hours before appt time, and I get a call from a different company for a 5:30pm signing and they have docs, I will take the signing with ready docs (must be in my inbox within 10 mins of the phone call). That first appt goes to the back of the line.

Some notaries have in their agreement (a reply to the confirmation) that docs must be in their inbox 2 or 3 hours before the scheduled appt. If not, then the job goes back and their schedule is open to receive other appts.

While the Easter Bunny and Silly Girl, made me laugh, Thank You LKT CA for the most useful of all responses. I hear notaries do different things, but I'm not likely to wait around again. If I lose all their business, oh well. As you all must know, I'm fairly new and this was the first time that had happened to me. Shame on me for believing they were on the way any minute.

Unfortunately, you will need to learn not to waste time

on certain things, especially at EOM. If they don't have docs in time, I turn them back. I had a full schedule, and no time for the one's they tried to schedule but never got docs for.

It would only have been a mistake if you turned down other

closings Carol. No worries, we all learn the hard way at some point/time or another (ALL OF US.) At least you learned it early on. I might STILL have done it in the not-so-distant past. Jim from Trans State called not so long ago and requested I help him with an emergency. When I told him I was waiting on doc's, he said to me, "Cheryl, are you crazy? I have the doc's here ready to go! You never turn down a "doc's- coming-over-any-minute" for one that's a given. You've been in this business long enough to know that!" Uh DUH on me!!!

I felt loyalty to this company because I've worked for them for a while and they send me a lot of business. But the bottom line is business is business. He was absolutely right! It turns out that I was able to do his AND got the other one done as well.

Re: It would only have been a mistake if you turned down other

Personally for me, I do not double book, and will turn down up to 15 minutes before the scheduled closing, docs are ready or not from someone else. I guess I have loyalty to the SS to wait for them. If the buyers are flexible, I will try and maneuver my closings to do that one first, but if not, I stick to my original plan. I do not like waiting for anyone, and do not expect anyone to wait on me.
