Seeking recommendations
I do all my own design work: stationery, promotional items, website, etc. I've been able to do that since in a past life I designed newspaper pages as an editor, and I taught computer editing/design at a large state univerity.
However, and it's a big however, print design techniques have increasingly become divorced from web design, and even the web design that I once knew has long been obsolete. So, I'm looking for someone to redesign my web pages, and maybe increase my google ranking. Anybody have any suggestions for inexpensive, competent designers? I'm not interested in a 600 horsepower we site; this is part-time for me, and my requirement is that any investment I make in it must pay for itself.
You can either PM me or respond here. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The recommended web technician, of course, doesn't need to be in my neighborhood.

Hugh there are a lot of high school kids or college kids that can do what you are looking for and not charge you a bunch of money. Ask around your neighborhood, your church, call the local high school, the local technical college, put an ad on Craigslist, search Craigslist. Hopefully these are good suggestions for you.
