Sticking to our guns! Sometimes it works!
Got a call today directly from a TC (3 1/2 stars) (but no really recent posts) that found me through Direct Closers, for a refi with edocs (@115 pages) closing Monday morning, about 20 minutes or so from me. They advised what they "usually pay" ($75.00) and I told them "I charge $1XX for this service; I'm sorry!" Shock: their response was, "That's fine, perfectly okay! We'll send over the order..." They did, and with my fee! WOO HOO!!!

$100.00 seems the standard in Florida. If they cannot meet or even come close...$95.00, chances are you do not want to continue to work for them anyway.

Shock...start telling them your fee is......
Woo Hoo? You have to come up with that number that works for you., for me it's 100 with in 8 miles, NO RUSH HOUR. $125 for 10miles and $135 for 14 miles. After that it gets dicy, time of day, tolls, etc. Good Luck.

I'm beginning to think that low fees have become so prevalent that some folks figure they might as well try to offer a low fee to see what the notary will accept, but they have a margin within which they can work. If you counter with what your usual fee is, you might just get it.
I run into this experience frequently, but not usually with companies that start @ $75. I usually just tell them they're not even close. If they're starting out that low, it's probably not a company I want to work with anyway and I'd be concerned about not getting paid at all. ('Course, that depends on the company.)
