The Closing Group, Kentucky
Wrapped up in a recent posting about NOWclosings, there was mention not only about The Closer, LLC but about The Closing Group. This was insteresting to me as I had a call from them on Friday for signing scheduled for today. I wasn't too sure about The Closing Group but what-the-heck, I took it anyhow.
I spoke to the borrower on Saturday who informed me in no uncertain terms he was not signing anything until he got the paperwork and reviewed it and then and only then would he schedule a meeting to sign. Okay. Fine with me. I took that as no appointment. I sent an email to The Closing Group informing them of this and went on to celebrate Labor Day by hanging out on Notary Rotary and whatever else one does for Labor Day weekend.
I also had an opportunity to look up The Closing Group and while there a few nice comments, I thought I might have dodged a bullet. I read about 50 page faxbacks, problems collecting money, so forth, etc, whatever. Personally, and I don't know why this is but I have very bad luck with SS and TCs from Kentucky. This is a fact! I am serious. So this was probably a blessing.
The Closing Group never responded to my email. I did hear from the Lender telliing me the signing was "off." But I knew that. They were going to reschedue for the 6th. About 30 minutes ago I got a call from the Closing Group. They wanted to tell me THE SIGNING WAS CANCELED. Thank you. I know that. Didn't you get my email? Chit Chat Chit Chat.
Anyhow. Am I Busy Thursday? No time. Just Thursday... Now I feel compelled to tell "her" my concerns. I ask her if they really ever have 50 page faxbacks? She says Wellllllll, and there is a long explanation as to how they never know in advance..............I changed the subject to one more pressing in my mind. I tell her on Notary Rotary some people say some nice thiings about them but many say there are payment issues. SILENCE. She assures me she will see what she can do. I ask what that means. She said she will try to make sure I get paid. I feel so good.
All joking aside, she was a very nice girl. Probably just trying to do her job. I think I may have caught her off guard. But I think I might pass on this one if they ever get a more definitive time than Thursday.

I've worked with The Closing Group & haven't had any
recent problems. They had their issues a couple of years back, changes in management, etc., but got that worked out as far as I know. It's news to me that they ALWAYS require faxbacks. I, like you, have had breakdowns in communication when there are so many people involved.

I did a job for them four years ago and I had to contact the TC in order to get The Closing Group to respond to my payment inquiries and finally pay me 75+ days after I did the closing. My review for them is in Signing Central with one star. They have called me again several times but I don't give second chances to companies that mess with me regarding payment.

This company did the bidding for title when they didn't like me crossing through the marital status of my certificate. They also had the cojones to request I revisit/resign the mortgage for the original date. As luck would have it, I was going out of town and could not oblige.

I have made several calls, emails, all the stuff we do asking to be paid. As of today I have not been paid for a July closing . Friday I called again and was told of course? My check was mailed on the 28th of August. I believe this is a stall tatic to delay paying. I will never except another closing from them.

Just received a call from Trevor at The Closing Group in Kentucky. He's very pleasant sounding on the phone -- I accepted the signing and then looked them up ---- they have a bad reputation.
When I called Trevor back and apologized that I wouldn't be able to accept the signing because of the non-payment issues that are on the notary boards, he did NOT sound surprised. Just told me he'd find another notary and for me to have a good day.
