Anyone with any info on this number? The person spoke very fast & I thought that she said she was from "some Title Company". I already had a signing at her requested time, and I told her my availability for that date. She asked me to "hold" the slot and she will see if she can get the time altered. In the meantime, I "googled" the number. It came up as "County Settlement Svc", Financial Settlement Settlement Svc, and KWN Settlement Svc". None of these are in Signing Central. Any information is helpful. I'm a little nervous here.

Don't sweat it...this gives you time to check it out, and no facts about the company, for me, no signing. Just be honest and tell her you never heard of them before and get the scoop on them. If it sounds okay, take it, but you have to get the facts, when they pay, how much etc. its your choice, and they need a professional signing assignment emailed and website. You cannot be scared to say no or tell the truth to them. Unless they are new, they should have a profile or comments on here somewhere.

Not necessarily so. I've received lots of one-shot work over the years from smaller, regional companies who may have a one-time assignment in my area. It could be because of borrower(s) traveling or an investment property. Frequently, no news is good news. But we have a choice to be paranoid and not take any risks, or to gather as much information as we can find to make an informed decision, or to just go with our guts, if no info is available. Some risks may be worth taking, as long as we're aware of the potential downside.
