An FYI re: "" in the subject line

There have been several instances in recent weeks where there have been inquiries about the "n/m" at the end of the subject line, and other times where it's occurred to me that the concept wasn't very clear to some posters.

So for any of you who are fairly new here, the "n/m" is automatically added at the end of the subject line when there is no content typed into the "Message" area. This can be a great time saver, if used correctly, because it saves us from having to click one more time to open a post that's empty. You can simply move on to the next one, knowing that you haven't missed anything. And when you just have a few minutes to check in, it can be frustrating to waste time clicking back and forth on empty messages.

It also means that if you put only something like a period or another "n/m" in the "Message" section, you've just defeated the whole purpose. And if you have a very short message that can fit into the subject line only, it's very much appreciated by readers if you do so. It's a couple of fewer clicks and screen updates.

We all loved it when Harry added that feature to this forum, so it would be great if we could all make the best use of it.

Now if only we could get a car alarm signal when posters ask the dreaded 'How do I get more business,' best printer, and 'journal' ???s

Oh wait . . . I enjoy the equipment threads -feel like I'm on a techSmart tradeshow floor and everyone has his/her pet peripheral with her.

(Wonder if there'll ever be a "SC" for PCs and Printers. If I were Canon, HP, Brother, I'd request ad space!!!)
