Angie's List
Has anyone been reviewed on Angie's List? I just joined this, which has few subscribers in my area. It seems that it is possible to list one's business on this list, but I haven't tried since general notary work doesn't seem like an attractive option in my area. (In my area, membership is free due to the small number of subscribers and businesses, but there is a subscription fee in busier areas.)

In my case, as you say general notary work does not really pay for my time and certainly not my travel, and I try and avoid it; referring people that call me to my local UPS (or other) store…..so why would I pay to advertise a service I don’t want to do?

I don't think businesses have to pay to be registered. (But I'm not sure, because when I looked at their terms and conditions, I couldn't agree to them. They don't allow businesses to make comments that are commercial in nature. But whenever a company responds to a customer comment, it's always commercial in nature, unless the "business" is a charity).

I was told the ONLY way to get on that list is to have a
client add you and/or business. Then they'll review it. Not sure if approved if they'd add it or not, but I'm a subscriber, and I've only seen surveyors and agents listed, no notaries public.

I have 2 of their Super Service Awards...
(that I put on my business cards) and a number of positive reviews, that some folks do mention as to why they called me.
I'm the only mobile notary on The List in the Columbus area, and was even featured in their monthly publication. You do have to be recommended by your customers, you can't buy your way onto it.
Doesn't cost to be listed; they do offer a number of marketing tools, although most are not viable for me. It's likely not a place where TCs will find you, but it's good for GNW. I provide each GNW customer an Angie's review sheet they can mail in to rate the quality of my services.

I've been on the List for several months at no fee.
Also have received any calls from them.
