Fess up!

Who are you? ND says that 46,124 notaries are signed up with them and serve their clients. We all know they pay $50 a pop. that means they're making $xxx. Wow! They've signed over 2,500,000 loans since 1987. Do the math, you know what the translate$ into, so what I'd like to know is, just who are the folks that are doing this business.

All you gotta do is say no, no, no! I mean, what if no one accepted their offers. Can you believe they've stayed in business this long? YIKES!

Not to be confused with this poster, who can sometimes be direct, but never takes advantage of a fellow notary.

In less notary-saturated areas, we can do better...

Much better. But 101livescan's point is still very valid. If you all would say NO to $50 (& $60, $75, $95, etc.) the fee simply has to increase. A rising tide raises all boats.

Re: Fess up! $70 e-signings too

There's a notary on another forum that says she takes $70 esigning 'cause we're lazy....I didn't even respond to her post, disgusting!

That's nuts. I am in their database. However, I will not

work for them unless they meet my fee. I think that was once last year.. and so far none this year. LOL

Re: Fess up! $70 e-signings too

Seriously?! Lazy? Ugh, today I had nothing to do, and they actually met my fee of $100 (they offered $60), the signing was just down the street from my house and they said it was one borrower. NOT. Yeah, one borrower and a wife who also had to sign.

So let's see ... I arrived at 5 pm, we weren't done signing until 6:45 pm - lots of questions and wanting to read, yeah, one of those. 9 notarized signatures, 2 sets of about 140 pg docs. Then 45 pages of fax backs. So tomorrow I still have to drive to Fed Ex and drop them after they approve the faxes. 4-5 hours of work for $100?! Bleh, I made more an hour pushing paper at the County for 11 years.

I officiate weddings for $125 and those take me maybe an hour prep and ceremony time. I notarize docs for a realty co and get a mobile fee and then $10 for each notarized signature, and most days he just needs one doc notarized, so I'm in and out in 5 or 10 minutes.

I know what I'm worth, and it's sad that there are notaries who don't value themselves and take the low pay and lower the bar for the rest of us.
